Serafina is a first-class belly dancer, known throughout the tri-state area and beyond for her elegant and charismatic performances. She appeared on Bravo TV's Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2011, performed at MTV's Quiero Mi Boda 2011 Season Finale wedding, and appeared on Dandana TV and in a music video that aired on Egyptian television. Her photos have been printed in the New York Times, Star Ledger, Home News Tribune, and many advertisements for upscale venues and events. Since 2007, she has performed onstage with Bollywood band Jersey Rhythms, as well as at the NJN Studio and New York Symphony Space theaters as a Beladi Dancer on the Chantal Chamandy Beladi Tour.
Audiences love the beauty, warmth, and emotional connection she brings to her dance, and many hire her annually for their most important celebrations and theme nights. Her proficiency for dancing to a wide range of music, from classical Egyptian pieces to modern Bollywood hits, both pre-recorded tracks and live arrangements, makes her a versatile performer and a true crowd pleaser. Serafina discovered her love of Middle Eastern dance at age 16, when she began to study intensively with the legendary Serena Wilson, Diamond Salome, and Jenna, among other talented instructors. Since then, she has studied with a variety of top-notch instructors in order to broaden her dance horizons and continue to develop her personal style. In addition to belly dancing, Serafina has performed as a singer, magician's assistant, model, and children's party entertainer, bringing grace and vivacity to her many endeavors.
Serafina skillfully blends a variety of props into her performances; she specializes in dancing with veil, finger cymbals (zills), wings of Isis, sword, candle tray, fan veils, cane, and fire sword. She performs weekly at Middle Eastern and Indian restaurants in Lambertville, NJ, New Hope, PA, and North Jersey.
"You've created a fascinating blend of styles. It works on the level of commercial entertainment, but you still express a quality of pure artistry … You really harnessed an intense energy; I was amazed at how you connected with the audience. And it wasn't only graceful physicality of your movements -- even your eyes seemed to convey the emotion of the dance." -- Audience Member at Zeina Restaurant, 2/18/2010, Highland Park, NJ
