*** CHECK OUT OUR NEW DEMO TUNES *** IT’S ABOUT MAKING GREAT MUSIC -- AND HAVING LOTS OF FUN!!! "'I Dig a Pygmy', by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids…," quipped John Lennon as he introduced the first song on The Beatles' last album, "Let It Be." It is from this ad lib that a group of talented musicians in Northern Virginia draw the name for their band, The DeafAids. They take the music of The Beatles quite seriously—but not themselves. In the same irreverent style as The Beatles, The DeafAids banter with each other and the audience as they cover songs from the first Beatles album, "Please Please Me" through "Let It Be," playing lots of great Beatles tunes that make it fun to dance, sing along or just sit back and enjoy listening. And while they do not do the "boots & suits" thing or grow "mop tops" like tribute bands, The DeafAids stay true to the music of the Beatles by using vintage Höfner and Rickenbacker instruments to help capture the classic Beatles sound that is so familiar. (Think of The Fab Faux of New York, "It's about the music.") It is the combination of good musicianship, vintage gear, high energy and that irreverent attitude that enable The DeafAids to deliver a rockin' good time to their audiences. And now after going through a personnel change a few months ago when one of the lads had to move away, The DeafAids are back and better than ever, ready to deliver the greatest music of rock ‘n’ roll that has recently inspired the movie “Across the Universe” and the “Love” album from Cirque du Soleil. And they want to do it for your event, to help make it the most fun and memorable it can be. Here's a few takes on The DeafAids' performances from those who have retained The DeafAids for their events: "The DeafAids made me feel like a kid again and I wanted to dance all night." "The DeafAids are the best Beatles band I have ever heard." "I was so impressed with how the songs came one after another. I could not stop dancing. " "The DeafAids are unequivocally the best Beatles band I have ever heard. Their sound is so authentic...so much like the Beatles, themselves, that I felt like it was the 60's all over again. In addition to their great sound, they were on time, played right to the end and mixed professionalism and fun in a most remarkable way." "We really enjoyed The DeafAids when we hosted the Nationals. Several people commented about how you guys sounded like the real thing! We also appreciate the willingness to do what ever it takes to have an awesome show. We also appreciate the great attitude you guys had before, during and after the performance. That alone says a lot about how great of a band you guys are. Keep up the great sound!" "Everybody loves a Beatles song, and these guys can do them all. If you can find someone who does not know at least one Beatles song, they must have been living in a cave. The DeafAids do a great job of keeping the crowd engaged with an entertaining mix of Beatles songs, commentary and trivia." "The DeafAids are more clean-cut than the Beatles. Enjoyable music, played to perfection from the heart. We were overjoyed to have them play for us." "The DeafAids were a great kickoff for our special event. Not everyone can do The Beatles and pull it off well! The DeafAids proved that 'all you need is love.' They're a great bunch of guys with a real passion for what they do." Each of The DeafAids has been playing and singing since their youth, and has performed in different venues along the East Coast for years. Like most bands, The DeafAids started out just "jamming in the basement," but at the strong suggestion of others in the local music scene (and because each of their wives told them to "go play that thing somewhere else!"), the band officially formed in late 2004 and started playing publicly in May 2005. The DeafAids are looking to play primarily in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Metro DC. The DeafAids would also consider gigs overseas in the UK, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Japan or other venues including "back in the USSR" if expenses are covered--but they're not holding their breath.
