Hello, my name is Dave Stanley, and I hope that I can add my special touch to your day to remember. I am a professional bagpiper who is experienced in playing for weddings, memorials, conferences, and golf tournaments. I have even been requested to play for a bingo hall!
When selecting a bagpiper it is important to look for three things: quality, professionalism, and presentation. Many pipers start playing late in life and are not quality players. The Grading System in bagpiping consists of Grade V, IV, III, II, and I. Grade I being the most skilled and technically qualified. I compete in Grade I. When selecting a performer, one should choose a Piper in either Grade II or Grade I, this ensures that you get the level of quality and accomplishment that leaves an excellent, lasting impression. Others may not have the decorum you expect, or they may have an incomplete uniform. The little things add up to a grand presence and performance. I have over a decade of experience coupled with world class instruction allowing me to offer a world class performance. I also understand the importance of adding a distinct touch to your event in how I play and present myself.
Some pipers charge by the hour. I charge by the event, because I believe that people deserve more value than a time limit. For example, for weddings, I can play as guests arrive, during the ceremony, as guests enter the reception hall, and during the reception. Whatever you choose, it's all included in my flat rate. I am happy to consult concerning appropriate song selection for your event. I can even compose a tune for you if you'd like something extremely memorable and personal! (Prices for composition available upon request). With enough notice, I am also able to provide Drumming Accompanyment. A Scottish Tenor Drummer adds a dynamic visual element to the performance that will make your experience that much more memorable.
My personal history with the pipes includes Instruction from one of the finest pipers in the country, Jimmy Bell. I began at age 16, and within 1 year, I was competing and winning competition awards. I even traveled to Scotland to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships in 2001. Within 3 years I attained the level of Grade II piper, a level most pipers never achieve in their lifetime. I have served in leadership roles as Pipe Sgt. for the Black Thistle Caledonia Pipe Band in Orlando , Florida and as Pipe Major for the Grade IV corps of the Atlanta Pipe Band.
My uniform is appropriate for all level of occasions from formal to less formal and being that I'm 6'6", I add a true "Big Scot" flavor to your special occasion. Contact me to discuss customizing your special event.
