Our guest on the blog today is Jen St.Clair from Little Sprout Creations, a fabulous website that specializes in custom designs and events. Jen designs some truly fabulous events, and she stopped by to share this adorable party she planned for her daughter. Here’s Jen’s recap of this darling party: Before my younger daughter's due date, I took my older daughter Leah out for a very special day just for her to celebrate her last month before sisterhood. We called it “sisters’ day” and decided that we’d celebrate it each year, on a day in August. We found out this year that there actually is a sisters’ day, and coincidentally, it's at the beginning of August! Perfect. Of course you can choose to celebrate this special occasion with your “big brother” or “big sister” any day throughout the year.
This year, we invited all of Leah's friends who are big sisters (and their younger siblings) over for an ice cream sundae party. Leah was in charge of choosing the colors (pink, pink and more pink), stuffing invitation envelopes, picking out ice cream toppings, choosing favors for her friends, helping with set up, and even helping with clean up.
The invitation was sweet, simple, and square, and since we only had a few invitations to send, we could splurge on the extra postage. We decorated the table with tissue poms galore, including two tissue pom garlands. Leah helped with some of the pom fluffing, which she really loved.
The table was set with our ice cream (pre-scooped and re-frozen for easy serving) and toppings (pink M&M’s, pink coconut, Piroulines, and white chocolate chips). Waffle cone bowls were dipped in pink candy melts for an extra special yummy pink touch. Strawberry and chocolate-raspberry sauces were poured into easy-to-squirt bottles with coordinating labels.
Mommies sipped strawberry Italian sodas (sparkling water, half and half, strawberry syrup) with frozen strawberries as ice cubes.
Leah gave her friends pink purses and awesome juice boxes as a special treat. We also put together some string and fruit loops for the big sisters to make necklaces with.
