We love everything about St. Patrick’s Day – Irish soda bread, Irish car bombs, and of course Irish music. It’s just a shame that every day can’t be St. Patrick’s Day, right? Well, maybe every day can’t be St. Patrick’s Day, but we say that September 17th sure can be. That’s right, get out your green garb, shamrocks and drinking glasses because the 17th is officially Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day! Now you don’t have to wait until March to drink some Guinness, eat corned beef and sing along to your favorite Irish tunes. Sounds pretty good right? Okay, let’s get to the planning.
For a Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day party (and any other party really), it’s all about the entertainment. Hiring performers to play authentic Irish music will make it feel like it really is St. Patrick’s Day! We have many great Celtic duos, trios and bands to choose from so you can select the size and style of band that is perfect for your party. After you have selected your music, you may also want to consider other entertainment options. What about an Irish step dancer to perform alongside the band or hiring a leprechaun costumed character for a few laughs. Since many St. Patrick’s Day parties involve a lot of Jameson Irish whiskey and of course green beer, you may want to hire a bartender to make sure that guests drink responsibly.
When it comes to decorations there are many websites that you can order from year round such as Oriental Trading or Shindigz. They have everything from shamrock stickers and green tablecloths to St. Patrick’s Day pennants and Irish bunting. You can order festive hats and beads from Party City to accompany your favorite green gear. You may host your party at a venue that will provide the food. But, if you are having the event in your home you could try your hand at cooking some delicious Irish fare like this mini shepherd’s pie appetizer or shamrock stew from Taste of Home.
Don’t forget about dessert, we suggest these chocolate- mint shamrock cupcakes, they look so yummy! Don’t’ worry, if you’re not that comfortable in the kitchen you could always have the party catered. Now you are on your way to a fun-filled Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day celebration. No lucky four leaf clover needed for party success. Now if we could just help with that inevitable St. Patty’s Day hangover!
