Today's guest is Jennifer from, (a fabulous party inspiration site). She's stopped by to share a fun and creative Halloween DIY project with us. It's perfect for anyone planning a Halloween celebration. Let's get to it...

I’m Jennifer, the party girl behind

Today I’m sharing with you a super cute, incredibly easy way to add some height and style to your Halloween party table…all for just a few dollars!

This project was created for use at a Halloween party, but the great thing about it is, you can use these homemade dessert stands year round!

Simply change the paint color, change the plate color, or even use designed plates to give each of these dessert stands your own custom touch.  The possibilities are endless!

Awesome, right?  Let’s get started!

See those four black stands on either side of the cake?

That’s what we’re making.

Let’s get started.

For each short dessert stand you’ll need:

One glass candle holder from the dollar store

Black spray paint (I used the “NOW” brand from Jo-Ann in a gloss finish)

One melamine plate (I got mine from Target for $4)

E-6000 glue

*NOTE:  For the tall dessert stand, you’ll need two candle holders.

How to Make a DIY Dessert Stand:

In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the candle holders.

Spray from top to bottom with short, light strokes to avoid drip marks.

Be sure to protect the area with a drop cloth or newspaper.

Allow the paint to dry (not long at all…maybe 15 minutes), then apply another coat.

Two coats did the trick for me, but if you’d like to apply another, go right ahead.

*NOTE:  It is NOT safe to serve food on spray-painted surfaces, so be sure to avoid spraying the plates.

Once the paint is dry, squeeze a light layer of E-6000 glue around the top edge of the candle holder.

Center the holder onto the bottom center of the plate and apply a bit of pressure to ensure a good connection.

Allow to dry.  This glue dries fast and strong.

To make the taller dessert stand, glue two short ends of the candle holders together, then secure the large end to the plate.

Here is the end result:
