Rickey Gene Wright and Duck Creek Station band provides acoustic Americana music with a blend of Country, Bluegrass, Folk and Acoustic Blues. Truly an acoustic crossover music genre that would please any crowd. They are known for their songwriting, tight harmony singing, professional acoustic instrument and keyboard styles and for singing their fellow Texas singer song-writer's songs like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Michael Martin Murphey and others. Their signature sound is an acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica, accordion, upright bass and that tightly woven harmony sung by Rickey Gene Wright and Denise Owen.
They also have a very unique sound when their lead mandolin player plays his mandocello and their acoustic guitar player plays his mandolin. They also play a six string banjo, a vintage metal resonator guitar, and that vintage upright bass is played by Richie Owen and those alternate keyboard styles of a cello and a pan flute are played by Denise Owen and she also plays a mean blues and country piano. You will also hear those hand-made mandolin family of instruments made by their own lead mandolin player and instrument luthier Martin Delabano.
That lucky singer song-writer who gets to sing his original songs in this band is Rickey Gene Wright. He is a registered BMI song-writer and composer and an Americana Music Association member.
They are not just a cover band and they concentrate on original music but, you have to hear their signature style and their new arrangements of those Americana cover tunes like "Wagon Wheel", "The Night The Drove Drove Old Dixie Down", "Shady Grove", The House Of the Rising Sun", "Wayfaring Stranger", "If I Needed You", Magnolia Wind, "Angel From Montgomery", "Desperados Waiting For A Train", and "Seven Spanish Angels. They have a unique and fresh choice of cover songs performed with their own signature sound blended with original song-writing, storytelling and musicianship.
They released a new album in February 2015 with twelve original songs titled "Rickey Gene Wright and Duck Creek Station".
If you are looking for experienced musicians, talented singers with tight harmonies, gifted songwriting blended with great Acoustic Americana cover tunes and a band who has their own signature Americana sound and who are appropriate for all occasions then you will be happy you have chosen this band.
