We are Peace Run - an acoustic Americana duo based in the DC area. With a strong emphasis on banjo, fingerpicking guitar, and vocal harmony, our music is a dynamic mix of bluegrass, folk, and country that ranges from is spare and rustic to full and powerful.
We are two friends - banjo master, Keith Arneson, and vocalist, Shannon Leigh Reynolds – who formally established our musical partnership in 2017 after Keith's retirement from the U.S. Navy. Keith is lead instrumentalist for Peace Run, and is a master of several instruments, including the banjo (three-finger and clawhammer styles) and fingerpicking guitar. He is a native of Waldorf, Maryland, and began playing banjo as a teenager. After playing professionally for several years, most notably with his band, Mountain Laurel, he joined the U.S. Navy Band Country Current as their banjoist. Keith served for 24 years in the Navy, retiring in May 2017. Since then he has devoted his time to playing in several bands as well as his solo work. In 2017, he released a solo instrumental album titled “Namaste,” featuring his original song, “Mysterious Eyes,” which won second place in the inaugural (2018) DCBU Mike Auldridge Instrumental Composition Contest. Shannon is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player. She is a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, but has made the D.C. area her home for over two decades. She has been the singer for several local bands, and her voice has been described as authentic and soulful, and fitting of an Americana sound. She has shown herself to be a talented lyricist and songwriter, having written all of the lyrics for Peace Run's originals and also the music for four of her own originals that appear on their debut album, Everything Is Just All Right.
Our set list includes covers such as “Walking After Midnight,” “Pancho and Lefty,” “Steel Rails,” “You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive,” and “Where I'm Bound,” but we can also tailor our songs to your preference and can include requests (with a few weeks notice). We also network with many area professional musicians, and can expand our duo to include more instruments if desired. We are available for parties, weddings, public concerts, festivals, and pretty much everything else, and we can work with your sound system or bring our own. In every case, we bring both a sound and look that are professional and perfect for your event.
