About Vendor

Mercy Beach performs in a variety of iterations including as a solo acoustic act, acoustic and piano duet, and as a full on acoustic-rock band. All of these configurations have creative force, Michael Roland, at the helm as the main vocalist and guitarist. The group currently performs a large catalog of original music as well as many covers. Randall Dunckley makes up the other half of the acoustic and piano set up and between the two there are at least 30+ years of public musical performing experience ranging from original alternative rock bands, blues and Motown cover groups, classic rock cover bands, and countless solo gigs. Roland has opened for notable rock bands Oleander, Trapt, Future Leaders of the World and has been on festivals with Sevendust, Asking Alexandria, Psychostick, Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace, and Pop Evil on tours throughout the Mid-West. He has also personally lead a backup group for Richard Pryor Jr., son of world renowned comedian and co-authored lyrics for the theme track of the independent film "College Debts" featuring Mr. Pryor. In 2013 Mercy Beach competed in Flint rock-radio station Banana 101.5's "Flint Town Throw-Down" to grab the #1 Song of the Year award with their local hit and upcoming stop-motion music video "My Pet Monster", and has a handful of songs on regular rotation at local Kettering University station's 94.3. Between his thick catalog of original albums, Mr. Roland has sold thousands of copies of his music worldwide. Dunckley is a self taught piano, bass, and guitar virtuoso who has been performed for many years in heavy rock groups such as Free Will and Convergence Theory and is well known regionally for his exceptional bass work in blues & Motown favorites Jones'n, featuring Heather Jones on lead vocals. The latter scoring a spot on the PBS special "Back Stage Pass" in 2011. He has worked diligently for several decades to become one of Michigan's premier musicians, excelling in whatever genre he works in, be it progressive rock, blues, or classical. The two Flint, MI natives have combined forces to focus on the softer side of their musical ventures to explore new avenues and expand their already wide horizons. The duet is the main objective for two reasons: it returns the focal point to the strong lead vocal, and for private parties, corporate events and what not the duo lends itself to being a much more intimate background that the audience can choose to take in as much or as little as they please. There won't be any ear drums being blasted with this group! That can come if a client is looking for a full on rock group that Mercy Beach can accommodate with several of their session buddies. What does the group cover? A large assortment of original music along with songs by The Beatles, The Police, Nirvana, Bill Withers, Bob Marley, Christmas carols, theme songs from games such as Legend of Zelda, show tunes from movies including The Nightmare Before Christmas, and much more. A set list would be provided to potential clients and effort to learn some requests could be made only if time allows within their schedule.
