Gladstone: A Tribute Band for the Decades Cover Band from Worcester, MA

Gladstone is a tribute band solely focused on the music. There are no costumes, gimmicks or shtick with them. "It's strictly about performing the music to the best of our abilities," says front man Ryan McMullen. With their tight musicianship and energetic stage performance, Gladstone brings the songs of the '90s to life in their own way. Distorted-power-chord versions of Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" and the Backstreet Boys' "Larger Than Life" mixed with arena-rock-like vocals and thunderous bass and drums are surefire attention grabbers. The extended solo jams on Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance" and Pearl Jam's "Alive" leave the audience wanting more, which is then the perfect time to break out into Michel Jackson's "Black or White" or their Rage Against The Machine-style cover of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise". "The music is what drives our shows," says lead guitarist David Gorham. "And because we're covering songs that are already well-known we tend to add our own style and arrangements making it more interesting for us and the audience to listen to." The origins of Gladstone date back to the summer of 2012. With the demise of original band Ashlands Attic, bassist Mark Lawton approached his brothers-in-law Ryan McMullen, former vocalist/keyboardist for Ashland's Attic, and Drew Terwilliger, an Alice In Chains/Mark Tremonti influenced guitarist, about starting a new '90s band in the area. "This is actually a passion project of mine…thought it would be a great way to keep playing out at shows and playing music I love." says Lawton. To help round out the line up, an ad was posted to recruit a lead guitarist and drummer. The ad caught the attention of guitarist David Gorham who for years had been in search of joining a band that matched his musical influences and interests. After many emails and one audition Dave was in. That audition also featured the drumming of another child of the '90s, Andy Newcomb, who, discovered by Ryan at a wedding, was looking for a new group to lend his drumming skills to. With the line-up complete, the new band needed a name. After much consideration they settled on Gladstone, named after everyone's favorite '90s TV uncle...Joey...(sorry Uncle Jesse). Gladstone performs locally around Central Massachusetts proving with each performance that they are a force to be reckoned with. Venues they have performed at include Speakers Night Club in Marlborough, MA, Creegan's Pub, and the Lucky Dog Music Hall in Worcester. The latter venue has billed them as "a fun '90s band" and also invited them to share the stage for "Worcester Supports Boston" a benefit show to help raise money for the One Fund.
