My name is Michael Scrima. I sing and play acoustic/electric guitar in a Solo Act featuring Classic Soft Rock and R&B covers from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and I'd love to play for you.
A little background: I'm a member of the Baby Boom Generation, born into a musical family, and raised in North Dallas, where I still live. Several years ago, I started out my professional musical career as a drummer and lead vocalist, working in various cover bands traveling throughout the Southwest, playing dance music and what is now considered "classic" rock. After coming off the road, I continued playing locally, running my own band up until a few years ago. That's when I switched from playing drums, and took up acoustic guitar again, which I hadn't played since high school. Before long, I had worked up a catalog of about 100 of my favorite and best songs that I had played throughout my professional career.
Since then, I've performed at nightclubs, restaurants, high school reunions, and private parties doing my solo acoustic guitar act, using a digital harmonizer to provide the backup vocals which allows me to perform popular songs by well known bands such as The Eagles, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Loggins and Messina, as well as tunes from several Motown artists like Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, and Michael Jackson, in three-part harmony. I also have a small, but very efficient PA system, which I've used to play for crowds ranging from 50 to 500 people. My typical performance consists of two one-hour sets, with a thirty minute break in between, during which I can provide background music at your request.
I love singing and playing these timeless, instantly familiar songs, and sharing them with the audience. I've also been known to joke around a little bit too. I've been a professional entertainer for forty years, which is why I can promise you that we'll all have have a good time singing, and reminiscing about all the memories that these wonderful, classic soft rock and soul tunes are sure to bring back.
