Tonya H. Ware, a native of Key West, Florida, was born to parents who traveled throughout the United States pioneering and planting churches. Early in life, Tonya's parents knew that she was divinely gifted. As a baby, she would lay quietly in her father's arms for hours while he prayed in preparation for ministry.
Tonya began singing at the age of six. After she was older, she accompanied her father and other ministers when they went to provide ministry in local jails. As soon as she opened her mouth, the inmates would rush to the front bars to hear the “little girl with the amazing voice.” It was the inmates that first referred to her as the little girl with – “The Voice.”
After graduating from high school with honors, she enrolled and graduated from Mississippi State University. She joined a noted campus choir and traveled extensively, singing in churches, special events, and corporate functions.
Through voice lessons and participating in choir, she acquired pertinent knowledge in understanding the mechanics of voice. Her voice matured into one that would inspire many. By the time she graduated from college, her gift to sing had literally touched people all over the world.
For more than twelve (12) years, Tonya focused her attention on her career, a Benefits and Retirement Planner for a Fortune 500 Company. For her expert knowledge and successful career, she was named a member of the “Top 40 Under 40 Mississippi Business Professionals” on January 16, 2008. Tonya was consistently in the top ten (10) in performance and sales nationwide in her former company.
As Musical Director at her local church, she has touched thousands through her gift of song. In 1997, Tonya and her husband, Bishop Adrian D. Ware, pioneered The Church Triumphant Global, Incorporated, where she also serves as Chief Worshipper, Musical Arts Ministry Director, Executive Pastor, and Vice Chief Executive Officer.
In December of 2006, Tonya released her first recorded work. She penned five (5) of the songs herself, making her both singer and songwriter on her self-titled debut album, Tonya Ware ~ “The Voice”. While her debut CD was originally recorded as Urban Inspirational, Tonya Ware – “The Voice” crossed over to Adult Contemporary and Soul radio. Tonya continues to create a major buzz in the music industry. Her debut CD, Tonya Ware – “The Voice”, has people taking notice of her talent.
Tonya's passionate single release, “Put My Hand In Yours,” written by Marvin Winans, stands up to some of today's “hottest” music – both in mainstream and Christian markets. The production and sound quality are second-to-none.
Tonya's music video for “Put My Hand In Yours” has been featured on BET's Video Gospel, Music Choice, Blastro, The Word Network, and many more. She has also been featured on The Gospel Music Channel's – “Kitchen Sink.” With Tonya Ware self releasing her debut project, she has learned a great deal about the music industry. Many have been impressed with her work ethic and high standard.
On July 13, 2008, Tonya was presented with a “Jackie” Award from the Mississippi Gospel Music Association for National Female Soloist of the Year. Also in 2008, Tonya Ware was recognized as a Billboard New Song Contest Honoree for an original song she wrote in honor of her mother entitled, “The Name of Jesus.” Tonya was also a KKCM Songwriter Finalist in 2008. Tonya is a 2009 Stellar Award nominated artist for Contemporary Female Artist of the Year. In 2009, Tonya was presented with another “Jackie” Award from the Mississippi Gospel Music Association. In 2010, she was named Mississippi President of the Warrior Bride, an international prayer network. Tonya was elected in 2012 to the Wisdom Team of the International Congress of Churches and Ministries (I.C.C.M.) where her husband serves as Regional Overseer/Bishop for the State of Mississippi.
In June 2013, Tonya participated in the Jacobs School of Music's Summer Jazz Vocal Program. There, she moved the audience with her passionate voice as she expanded into the realm of jazz music. In August 2013, she studied two (2) weeks in Los Angeles in the singer/songwriter program at the Berklee School of Music to sharpen her skills. While in the Berklee Singer/Songwriter program, she was recognized for her gift of song by being awarded a scholarship by Berklee to begin studying online. As a indie artist, Tonya continues to search for avenues where she can impact the world with songs of hope. Those who meet her love her kind and warm spirit.
