DESCRIPTION:
Marc Silver & The Stonethrowers blend a passion for songwriting, jazz studies, traditional American songs, and Appalachian fiddle tunes. They deliver a unique mix of original songwriting, bluegrass, folk, and Americana music. Lead singing with great vocal character and seamlessly blended three-part vocal harmonies fill out their energetic delivery.
The Stonethrowers have been taking their music and message to audiences all over the Delaware Valley and beyond in the past year and a half. The band won 1st place at Pickin in the Panhandle Bluegrass & BBQ Festival and have shared the stage with bands like King Wilkie, Chuck Prophet, Moe, and many others. They have gained artist support from DPA and Blue Microphones as well as The Red Bear Trading Company.
Having just completed their newest CD, Past is Prelude, a radio campaign is in the early stages as well as laying the groundwork for touring in the 2009/2010 festival seasons. Loosely targeting a geographic area within a ten-hour radius of Philadelphia, the band is tracking work from Vermont to North Carolina
The Stonethrowers travel with the following instrumentation: guitar/ voice, banjo/voice, mandolin/voice, pedal steel guitar, and upright bass/ voice. Upon demand, we will travel without pedal steel and we can also come with a female vocalist.
You can expect to hear your favorite traditional songs as well as songs by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Hank Williams, Tom Waits, Gillian Welch, Steve Earl, Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, Ricky Skaggs and more.
