Voted Best of 2012!!! The Giant Steps Jazz Combo is a small 3-piece band - Saxophone, Bass, and Drums. This band is perfect for any occasion. The band plays instrumental jazz music from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and other "Jazz Standards" artists.

The Giant Steps Jazz Combo was awarded the Best of 2012 Award for Exceptional Service. This award is given to recognize those bands who go above and beyond to satisfy their clients. The award winners are chosen based on customer feedback, by clients just like you, right here at Gigmasters.
The band is led by Saxophonist Chris Benavidez. Chris went to college at Northern Arizona University where he received a B.A. in Music Performance. In college, he worked regularly with top jazz professionals such as Joel DiBartolo (Bassist from "The Tonight Show Band"), Zirque Bonner (Bass player for Stanley Jordan), and Joe Palmer (Saxophonist for the Woody Herman Band). After graduation, Chris spent a year working as Professor of Music at Coconino Community College, School of Music, in Flagstaff, AZ. Chris is a founding member of The Giant Steps Jazz Band, Leader of Pithecanthropus Erectus - A Tribute to Charles Mingus, and Owner of Live Music Productions, L.L.C.

"Chris and the guys were amazing! We were a bit nervous at first, because we had never heard them play in person. Chris was in contact with us constantly to reassure us that everything would work out..and it did! They arrived early and were already playing when we showed up. The music was perfect! We could not believe all the complements we received on our choice of bands. The room was an elegant ballroom and the music was a perfect fit. They were the perfect volume so people could talk and they kicked it up as the night got later so we could all dance. We would definitely recommend them for your wedding reception or any type of event. They were first class! "

All requests were met, correspondence was quick and thorough and the performance couldn't have fit our desert wedding experience better.

"I can't say enough good things about the Giant Steps. They accommodated our requests (even learning one of the songs the month before our wedding), showed up on time (even travelling from Phoenix to Prescott), were courteous and just plain awesome. We got a ton of compliments on the band from just about everyone at the wedding, and the owner of the reception area even asked for their info.
Great jazz band - especially for the price. They should be charging double! If you are looking for a near flawless jazz band, book these guys now. We'll definitely be calling them the next we have a party. Thanks!"
