Description

"Two of Colorado's premiere traditional Irish musicians have returned home from Ireland to bring you music fresh from the source. Jon Sousa and Adam Agee journey through the Irish idiom on fiddle, guitar, and tenor banjo. Read more about them below, and visit their websites to hear their

Adam's music is alive, imperfect, dynamically fluid, and colorful. Raised in the mountains of Santa Cruz, California and Boulder, Colorado, Adam came first to Ireland in 2004 and based himself in Ennis, County Clare. He has been teaching and performing for the last 10 years.

Jonathan Sousa fell in love with music from an early age, first listening to the 70's folk albums in his mother's record collection then journeying on to rock music and heavy metal after which passing through the realms of electronic dance music making his way on to West African percussion and finally landing in the world of traditional Irish music (He regularly returns to the previous realms). Jon holds a BA from Naropa University in Music and an MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick in Ireland.

Regardless of the type of event, Jon and Adam's emotional connection to their instruments and energy in the music they play is awe-inspiring, and without a doubt, will shoot straight to your heart and get you dancing like never before!

"The first time I arranged to have Jon and Adam play at my house, the encores lasted late into the evening. As a fan of traditional Celtic music, I know I am not alone is saying that I feel like I am back in Doolin, Ireland when I listen to them play. There is magic in the air when Adam's bow meets his fiddle. Equally so when Jon's banjo or guitar lights up the room. Both Jon and Adam have returned many times to the "Featherstone concert hall" and I hope they come back again and again." — Brian Luke Seaward, Ph.D.

Feedback

  • I hired Jon and Adam to play at my wedding reception. Adam couldn't make it but Jon found a replacement and they did wonderfully. My guests all gushed over their performance. They added the just right tone to the event and I highly recommend them. -- Nicole L, Laramie, WY, 12/18/2011
  • Jon and Adam played at our wedding on 9/10/11. First of all, these two young men were simply brilliant at their instruments and totally made our ceremony have the calm Irish feel we were looking for! Jon and Adam complimented each other very well on every level of their play and we let them plan all the music which was beautiful! At the reception they had the audience clapping and dancing for a good couple of hours and we received the highest of marks and regards for having them play at our wedding and reception. They will not disappoint you. My wife and I are still glowing about our wedding and highly recommend them for any occasion! Thanks guys!! Stryder and Amy -- Amy S, Palisade, CO, 9/10/2011
  • The Gigmaster rating scale simply doesn’t speak adequately to the level of service, professionalism and talent Jon Sousa and Adam Agee delivered during our daughter’s wedding on January 25th. So when you see all “5’s”, please understand that on a rating scale of 1-5, these gentlemen are solid “10’s” in our book! We could not have asked for better music—or more gracious musicians—to set the tone for the evening. Jon and Adam – it was a pleasure meeting you and thank you so much! Chris and Sharon Lujan -- Sharon L, Manitou Springs, CO, 1/25/2008
  • Jon was extremely professional and delivered an outstanding performance. He is such a talented musician. Our guests truly enjoyed his music. He chose a perfect selection of music for our gathering. I would not hesitate to hire him again for another function! -- Teresa V, Denver, CO, 12/9/2007
  • Jon and the other musicians were amazing. We put them in charge of picking the right music for our wedding and they played the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and afterwards. The music they chose was perfect for each segment of the party and everyone really enjoyed them. We had so many comments about the quality of the music, not to mention how nice they all were. Even the director of our reception site said that they were amazing and that they were very respectful of all the staff they encountered. We highly recommend Jon and the musicians that he gathered together for our event. -- Emily H, Steamboat Springs, CO, 9/21/2007
  • Jon is a wonderful person and musician. I would highly recommend him to anyone! -- Lauren S, Vail, CO, 8/4/2007
  • Jon Sousa performed at a party for us and we couldn't have been happier. His music was beautiful and he was so kind and accomodating to all the guests (even to the children who enjoyed dancing to his music!). He won rave reviews from all those who were there. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a talented guitarist to hire. -- Shelley F, Denver, CO, 7/21/2007
  • John is a talented and professional musician. He was the perfect choice for our event and my husband and I could not have been more pleased. Our guests also enjoyed talking to him during his break. I would highly recommend Jon to a friend. We also went to hear him play again (at a local pub) the night of our party! That's how much we enjoyed Jon's music. -- Robyn L, Niwot, CO, 7/14/2007
