Sene Africa  World Music Band from San Diego, CA

Sene Africa is an African World Music group bringing the gift of African music from Senegal to the World. Sene Africa is led by singer/song writer Ibou Ba. Ibou Ba was born in Dakar Senegal and started singing from the young age of 10. In his years as a youth he won many competitions in Senegal landing him a roll to perform with his first group Nikinaka. Ibou Ba with the group Nikinaka traveled throughout Senegal performing at tourist sites, gatherings, parties, festivals, hotels, and restaurants. After traveling for many years the group finally settled in St Louis Senegal, where Ibou Ba got his first taste of other worldly music by getting to perform at not one but three times at the St. Louis Jazz festival in Senegal as the head lining act. After hearing his rare distinct African singing Voice Ibou Ba was hand selected by the International School of Ballet for their African version of the Opera Carmen. They with Ibou Ba went on an international tour performing the piece Europe and Africa. After the tour of a year Ibou Ba created his first Album Salaam Alykum. He did a tour in Senegal for the album for over a year landing him enough recognition to be invited to tour in North America. He played in many cities all over the United States from New York, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Diego, and etc... One of his best known performances was at Bob Marley Day in San Diego, CA landing Ibou Ba in high respects to perform with many musicians like Ravi Shankar, Sheikh Lo, and Omar Pene just to name a few. After his Bob Marley Day performance he decided to reside in San Diego, Ca. Ibou Ba as a current resident of San Diego has been invited to play at all the upcoming Bob Marley Days (now known as Tribute to Reggae Legends) major events at the famous World Beat Cultural Center, Balboa Park, and the Jacobs Center. His recognition has allowed him to play in many centers in Mexico. He also got to voice in the as some of the apes in the 2011 film Planet of the Apes. Ibou Ba is a wonderful musician whose voice cannot be mimicked by anyone. He can bring the pleasure of Africa to anyone's ears.
