Tiffany Preston Violinist from Charlotte, NC

A native of Macon, Georgia, violinist Tiffany Preston has developed into one of the most promising young musical educators of the southeast. A long-time resident of Charlotte, NC, Tiffany was a graduate of the prestigious Queens College, and has pursued continuing performance studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As a performer of orchestral, chamber and popular music, her experiences span the reach between classical and other genres. Ms. Preston has performed with the UNC Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the UNC Charlotte Chamber Orchestra, was a member of the Queens Community Orchestra for three consecutive years, and has made an appearance with the One Voice Chorus in 2011. As a lover of all genres, Tiffany thrives in an environment where there are no musical boundaries, as evidenced by her 2012 performance with the legendary band Earth, Wind and Fire in Charlotte. As a Suzuki certified instructor of violin, Tiffany currently keeps a thriving studio of over thirty students, from pre-kindergarten to adult. Her students receive specialized training in the areas of music theory, practice and performance, culminating in monthly recitals throughout the Charlotte area. In addition to individualized, private lessons, Ms. Preston's students also have the opportunity to participate in group lessons, where they develop the skills to play within an ensemble of their peers. Tiffany was honored to serve as an adjudicator at the Community School of the Arts Suzuki Festival 2013, and is excited to return in this capacity during the 2014 Festival. As an artist, Ms. Preston believes that it is important to never stop the learning process. To that end, she continues her study of Suzuki methodology at Furman University, as well as her study of violin performance with University of North Carolina School of the Arts Chair of Strings, Kevin Lawrence. When she is not teaching or practicing, Tiffany enjoys spending time merging auditory ideas with visual ones with her husband, graphic artist Happy Carter, and their new puppy Olive.
