Dark Horse Duo Top 40 Duo from Madison, WI

Dark Horse Duo is an instrumental pop duo featuring Julia McConahay (violin) and Meghan Rose (piano). We play popular hits from all decades in an energetic and entertaining format. The name came from our first gig together when the bride requested Dark Horse by Katie Perry for her processional. We were thrilled to create our own version and it was such a cool touch to their contemporary wedding. All of the guests enjoyed our performance during cocktail hour which contained songs like Firework, Wreckingball, Secrets (One Republic), Shook Me All Night Long, and our own contemporary versions of other well known songs and classical pieces. Some couldn't believe that we pulled off certain songs with just two of us. Everone had a great time and we knew we were on to something new to offer! Julia McConahay has been playing violin professionally for the past fifteen years while based in Madison, WI. She is a seasoned performer having participated in multiple orchestral/string and vocal ensembles since age 6. After 10 years of classical training she began to discover her own voice as a contemporary violin player. As a result, Julia's skills exhibit a unique improvisational style that varies from rich lyrical melody to bow-shredding technically aggressive solos. Her new band SHESHE is a three-piece contemporary acoustic rock group comprised of violin, guitar, drums, and three-part vocals. She plays for a variety of private events throughout the year including weddings, fund-raising events, private parties, and recording sessions. She can also be found behind a piano or guitar performing in a coffee shop or cafe for an evening of rich musical experience. Meghan Rose is the marketing/booking coordinator for Frequency night club and bar in Madison, WI. She has a rich history of musical theater composition and direction. Her current bands include Little Red Wolf, I saw the Creature, and Damsel Trash. All have varying genres and styles, but the consistent element is Meghan's versatile musical skills on piano, guitar, bass, and moving vocals.
