John Nobile's Summer Swing Orchestra includes full instrumentation in the tradition of the great swing and jazz orchestras of the 1930s and 1940s. Our music book consists of over 1,000 songs from many genres over the past 80 years. John Nobile's SummerSwing Orchestra is a eightteen piece dance and concert band having an instrumentation of 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, bass, guitar, drums, and female vocalist. The orchestra's songbook has over 600 original arrangements of the Big Bands of the Swing Era, including Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmie Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Ray Anthony, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, etc. The orchestra is based in Central New Jersey, and travels throughout the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Specializing in dances,weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and shows, the orchestra has most recently appeared at the world famous "Rainbow Room" in New York City's Rockfeller Center. Everywhere we play, audiences are smiling and having a good time. Steve Kaplan, our energetic and talented musical director, is very entertaining, explaining the music and encouraging audience participation with original arrangements of Sing-Alongs and medleys of lively popular music. We often adjust our set list at a performance based on the music that the audience enjoys the most. Matched decorative music stands provide the band with a sharp, professional appearance.
