Glenn Crytzer's Rhythm Club brings the instrumental and vocal jazz of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s to life with flexibly sized ensembles ranging from as small as a trio to as large as a full 13 piece big band. Glenn's ensembles have delighted thousands of fans at public and private events across the US and Canada and he employ's some of NYC's top early jazz musicians who play with style, virtuosity, and excitement. Lauded for their authentic sound, you might have heard some of the Rhythm Club's recordings on NPR or in movies and TV Shows Like Pretty Little Liars, Defiance, Bomb Girls, Bullet in the Face, Manhattan, Growing Up and Other Lies, Leading Ladies, and more!
In NYC you can hear Rhythm Club ensembles every Sunday at Pegu Club in SoHo, every 3rd Thursday at Swing 46 and a variety of other venues all over town. Some local public performances have included Lincoln Center's Midsummer Nights Swing, Manhattan's Dance Parade, Radegast Hall, The Harlem Swing Dance Society, Swingeasy, and many others! Outside NYC Glenn's groups have played at more venues than we can actually list here (seriously there's a character limit on our profile). A few highlights include the San Diego Jazz Festival, the Medford Jazz Festival, the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, Midwest Lindy Fest in Minneapolis, the Atlanta Varsity Showdown, The Glen Echo Ballroom in DC, the Mobtown Ballroom in Baltimore, Cats Corner in Montreal, Lindy on the Rocks in Denver, the Balboa Rendezvous on the Balboa Island in Southern California, etc etc.
The 1920s through the 1940s cover a few different styles of jazz. Here are the different options available:
SWING MUSIC (Combo or Big Band) - From the 1930s through WW2 Swing was King. Whether hiring our full band or one of our swing era combos we can help you step back in time to the Savoy Ballroom, a WW2 USO Dance, a Harlem rent party, or a smokey jazz club on 52nd street. Swing music is FROM New York City and nobody does it better than NYC's own Rhythm Club!
1920s HOT JAZZ - From the Great Gatsby through Prohibition and the Boardwalk Empire, the music of the 1920s was HOT. Let the Rhythm Club's music transport you back in time to back alley Speakeasy or a classy Gatsby Style Lawn Party. Hot Jazz was the music that America partied to in the 1920s and nobody does it hotter than the Rhythm Club boys!
NEW ORLEANS JAZZ (Dixieland) - The land where jazz began. Want to party down like it's Mardi Gras? Maybe you'd like to have a second line parade at your wedding (or funeral)? We'll serve up the tastiest NOLA style jazz that you'll find anywhere outside the great state of Louisiana.

A MESSAGE FROM GLENN:
I'm so happy you're interested in booking one of my bands for your event. Whether we're playing at a concert for a thousand people, a wedding, a corporate part, or a private concert for 2 people having a romantic dinner, I love sharing my love of old jazz with other people. We take the music we play seriously, but the music is serious fun! I feel lucky and blessed that I get to wake up every day, put on a suit, and play incredible music with some of the best musicians in the world - and if that wasn't enough, I get to make music that makes people happy!
Since I look at the opportunity to play music for a living as a real gift, I try to go above and beyond what other folks are doing to give our clients something really special. My larger groups play arranged music something many bands in the 30s and 40s did that very few other bands playing vintage music today attempt. I do all the arranging myself, and even write originals in the vintage to contribute something back to the great American Songbook that's been handed down to me. Whether bringing a larger "arranged band" or a smaller outfit the musicians I work with are all first class professionals who care about making your event a success. They're on-time, neatly dressed, and ready to play some great music to entertain you and your guests!
I'd also like to mention to you that in a world where bands are getting louder and louder, we seriously HATE being too loud. I know this is always a big concern when hiring a band. Our music is always tastefully played and at a tasteful volume. We don't use stage monitors, or bass amps that drive up the volume of the music - in fact we don't even use modern drums because they're designed to be so much louder for rock music.
I'd love to be a part of your event and hope that you'll drop me a note on here to discuss booking us!
