The flower girl makes her way down the isle on a sunny afternoon deep in a forest surround by trees and nature, stumbling her way across as she is all but 3 years old. A string quartet plays in the background near the altar, the music fading out as they quickly assemble their parts to begin the next song. It is the one the bride had chosen, the one she and her husband-to-be first danced together. The crowd rises as she begins to float her way towards the isle, a single tear shedding from her left eye as the music brings back memories. It was years of living, months of planning, and hours of rehearsing all culminating to the transition to a new chapter in the couple's lives. Suddenly a gust of wind picks up. The first violin's music stand begins to tip under the weight of the music stand. In a moment of panic, she stops playing and lunges forward to catch it, but it is too late and it falls over. As she struggles to regroup, the cellist, waiting for a particular line from the now dropped melody, misses her entrance and her eyes dart back and forth looking for a queue on where to resume playing. The second violinist and violist, with only inner support voices, can do nothing but stare at one another helplessly as their quartet degenerates into a herd of dear in headlights. Flustered, the bride marches down the rest of the isle to complete silence.
This is a true story. Just not one of ours.
Hand-selected and trained at only the most elite conservatory programs such as the Juilliard School and New England Conservatory, performance is second nature to us. The concert hall is our home, the practice room our training grounds, where we learn to execute flawlessly regardless of the circumstances. A string peg slips and goes horribly flat, an infant in the audience begins wailing during a delicate passage - we compensate instantly, as the show must go on. Thus our members are frequently selected to perform at numerous high-profile Hollywood celebrity events, and regularly perform with local orchestras including Symphony Silicon Valley, Marin Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, and Opera San Jose among other professional establishments near and far.
Outside the comfort zone of classical repertoire, we also produce covers on music ranging from film scores to top 20s, television shows to video games. Meticulously arranged in-house from scratch, transcriptions are backed by classical music theory and undergo several revision cycles to remain true to the original without forsaking the technical capabilities of a classically-trained quartet. The result is a compelling arrangement for performance only by seasoned players, free of errors in rhythm, notation, and omissions frequently found in arrangements from other sources.
Services we provide:
- String ensembles of solo, duet, quartet, quintet, or larger up to chamber orchestras
- Custom-tailored music arrangements for specific works outside of the classical repertoire, upon consultation
- High-quality studio recordings of commissioned works
