Robert Norris is a professional composer, performer, producer of steel & African drum music. Rhythm & Steel offers wide and varied musical selections including but not limited to: Reggae, Soca, Pop, Calypso, R&B, Jazz and Indie. Performance options include: weddings, private parties, boat cruises, dances/proms, clubs, festivals and fairs. School performance and educational events also offered.

Robert Norris has been performing over 20 years. At 8 years old has been a versatile musician, singer and songwriter in the Urban Art Center. As a music teacher, Robert Norris lead Portsmouth's Urban Arts Center students to winning a gold medal in the Virginia Panorama Steel Drum competition, 2010. From Sandbridge to Charlottesville, from North Carolina's Outer Banks to Richmond, The band has performed to appreciative audiences young and old. Gigs have included: USS Enterprise, USS Nimitz, HarborFest, Carib Fest, Norfolk's Af'ram, Hampton Jazz Fest, Blackbeard Festivals and Portsmouth's Seawall Festival.

Everyone enjoyed the band. they arrived on time and played outdoors for 5 hours during cold weather. Very professional and dependable. Music selection was great for our event (more formal afternoon party with work acquaintances). For other types of events ask Robert, he does have other musicians on hand as well.

Rhythm and Steel was excellent! I missed the performance because it was during my cocktail reception but the videos I saw from my friends were awesome! My friends and family are still talking about how they were jammin! Robert was very responsive and professional and I will definitely book with him again. Thank you!
