About Vendor

The word is out: these days, there's a lot more than just rap, rock, and hip hop coming out of this evergreen state! Hailing from Maple Valley, Washington, The Dakota Poorman Band has been blowing the roof off of the Taphouse Ink, Bootleggers, Mavericks, Bourbon Jacks and the Yella Beak and the famous Tractor Tavern in Seattle (just to name a few) and sharing the stage with ACES-UP, Aaron Crawford, Blackstone, Crawford&James, Robbie Walden Band, and Perry Acker. With their unique blend of Southern Rock, and Classic Outlaw Country Rock. From Bob Seger to Eric Church, The Marshall Tucker Band to Waylon Jennings, there ain't nothin' that The Dakota Poorman Band doesn't hit out of the park! "We are a band that enjoys the company of friends and family, and our AWESOME FANS! Sitting around a roaring fire with some beers and friends is what it's all about! And when it comes to the music . . . well, we play our asses off to put on a stellar show for every single individual person that comes to see us perform. We mean business! Just some great friends having an awesome time on stage doing what they love to do!" - Dakota Poorman Now, "Dakota Poorman" is not only the name of the band, but the singer/songwriter/guitarist as well! Yep! While growing up, his mother would sing around the house. Picking up in his mothers foot-steps and continuing the soulful sounds of Ray Charles and Patty Loveless, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard playing through the stereo, Dakota knew that country was his calling. Dakota picked up his first guitar when he was 7 years old and has been singing and playing ever since. When asked: "Where'd you get that talent?" he replies . . . "I really can't explain it, haha. It's just something that comes natural to me and it makes me feel at home." As soon as he slings that guitar across his body and steps up to the mic to sing and play, you know that's what God's plan was for him. When Dakota walks into a room - it doesn't matter if there's ten people or a thousand people, Dakota will be able to become friends with everyone of them. And when he gets on stage he makes it about the music and the crowd! The joy, the heart-ache, it's about what he stands for and what the music means to him. It's what he loves to do. If it wasn't about the music he wouldn't be performing. Dakota started writing and playing more, but wanted to form a band, so that's what he did. He started up his own band in 2010 - it was called Take It By Knight. They were playing at local parties and then, the big kinda breaking point was when they opened up for Ace's Up at a charity party at Pell Parties. As they were getting booked more and more at local bars, outdoor events and coffee shops, Dakota wanted a more professional name - a name to be known for his unique talent - HIS name. With his singing style of the Seattle Delta Blues and the Pacific Northwests' Country roots, he proudly presents to you The Dakota Poorman Band! And here they are today! As The Dakota Poorman Band is getting major recognition from the Northwest and all of the other surrounding areas, it won't be long until he hits the studio to make the Pacific Northwest understand you don't have to be from the south to be considered Country. You just have to follow your dreams!
