Sing For Glenn Rock Band from Olive Branch, MS

For Nick Parr (vocals and guitar), Andrew Allen (bass), and Clayton Clark (drums), Sing For Glenn is a musical avenue on which to expand their musical prowess and to perform a collection of original songs as well as some covers at a variety of venues and events based on their rules and their style – a style which the band has yet to label. Influenced by a variety of artists and music types, the band plays with an “acoustic rock” sort of sound with some modern rock and pop and bluesy influences thrown in for good measure. With their first public performance as Sing For Glenn taking place in Spring 2013, the members of Sing For Glenn were doing more than just debuting a new band for the North Mississippi/Memphis, TN region. They were also putting on display what five or so years of playing and practicing together had produced. The members of Sing For Glenn have been playing music together since around 2008 when they started practicing and playing as the Mineral Wells UMC youth band. Eventually, the youth band became the church's Sunday morning worship band which, over the years, has performed at various church related functions as well as some regional events. Sing For Glenn was formed out of a desire to play more and do more original music. In the spring of 2013, Sing For Glenn's first action as a band involved recording a demo CD at Hope Presbyterian's The Grove Studio. Because of the ministry aspect of The Grove, the CD is a collection of some of their favorite Contemporary Christian songs and is a showcase of their sound and history. Next was Sing For Glenn's debut performance, along with vocalists Kayla Baker and Jenny Davis, at Impact Mission's Hearts Cry Family Day – an event intended to rally community awareness and support for children's safety. From there, Sing For Glenn was the inaugural performers at the Olive Branch Old Towne Association's new summer music series, Rockin' on the Roost. The 2013 spring and summer found them performing at some private events, a 4th place finish in the Mississippi Music Foundation's Rock N Rumble “battle of the bands”, Desoto Arts Council Craft's Fair, Otherlands Coffee Bar in Memphis, TN, and Hernando Water Tower Festival to name some of their various events. As well as being musicians, the band members are also full time college students this fall. The Fall Semester has found them playing music around their class schedules – either Nick solo or Nick and Andrew together. Sing For Glenn is always looking for any chance to play their music for anyone that wants to listen.
