While it was gospel artists such as Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, Commissioned, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Tonex, Richard Smallwood and Bebe and Cece Winans who helped to shaped her as a contemporary gospel artist.
As a performer, Teresa has gained more than 25 years experience singing a variety of genres in local plays, talent shows, competitions, choirs, groups, productions, recording projects, weddings and charitable and private affairs. Her forte is gospel, jazz and songs for special occasions but she is affluent when it comes to R & B, soul, pop, Broadway, and classical music as well.
Teresa has been blessed to share such stages as the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, and the Miriam Theatre and the Academy of Music in Philly, with such artists as Shirley Caesar, Richard Smallwood and the Williams Brothers. She has had the privilege to work with such artists as Dr. Bobby Jones, Shirley Murdock, Melissa Morgan and Glenn Jones to name a few.
As an indie artist, Teresa released her debut CD, Genesis in May 2007. Genesis features a collection of 12 contemporary gospel songs, written and arranged by Teresa. As its title suggests, Genesis would be the catalyst for an array of future endeavors. Fans anxiously await the release of Teresa's sophomore CD, which captures the artistic prowess of a seasoned artist in the prime of her life. This collection of her favorite jazz standards is to be released in early spring 2013. A second gospel project is in the works as well and will feature a fresh crop of original compositions and arrangements that illuminate Teresa's depth and maturity as an artist. In the balance are a number of other projects as Teresa endeavors to maximize her full potential as an artist.
Becoming an indie artist was a moment of truth for Teresa. “I have learned to be content in whatever I do. I have come to realize that life is what you make it and success is not determined by how much material wealth you gain. Rather, success is doing what you love, living a life that glorifies God and making a positive impact on the lives of other people. Success is realizing that everything has a purpose and a season and making every day count.” Teresa is taking her place, determined to leave her mark in the music industry and in the world.
