iRon Lion! The name sounds fierce, majestic and glorious as the powerful and memorable concerts he has been delivering throughout the US for the past several years!
The soft-spoken spiritual vocalist, writer and keyboardist, who is heavily influenced by the Rastafarian culture, enchants his audiences (as in reggae festivals, night clubs, bars, cruises, college events, or more intimate settings like private celebrations), with roots reggae music, ska, dancehall, soul music. He offers a rich and diversified repertoire to please all age groups. iRon Lion is both available for solo shows (acoustic), DJ backing shows or with his band The Knotty Lions.
The band consists of a talented group of professional Virginia, Maryland & Washington DC-based musicians who have toured the world, backing various other major reggae artists. iRon Lion offers great classic covers of reggae legends Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, UB40 and more, but also covers of Sean Paul, Damian Marley, Collie Buddz and many others which radiates to younger reggae lovers!
From Reggae to Soul, his musical influences are Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Sam Cooke among others. He also reveals that from a business standpoint his influences are Sean Combs, Berry Gordy and Sir Coxsone Dodd. This combination of influences has resulted in an amazing masterpiece: his new album: "Reggae Party" produced by StableRoots and distributed on iRon Lion's indie label iRon Lion World.
The Virginia–based artist has opened for reggae greats such as Jimmy Cliff, Morgan Heritage, SOJA, Richie Spice, The Wailers, King Yellowman and Israel Vibration to name a few. When iRon Lion steps onstage, he captivates and electrifies the crowd with his own original repertoire such as popular songs from his latest album "Reggae Party" like "Papaya", "My love is real", "Feels so good", "Education"," "Woe to Babylon" and more.
iRon Lion's talent is not accidental, music runs in his family. He started singing along with his brother, sisters and cousins when he was just a little 5 year old boy in the New Galilee Baptist Youth Choir on the Southside Chicago, where his mother was the choir director. The success of legendary Michael Jackson, who was from neighboring Gary, Indiana, also had a big influence on iRon Lion as a dancer and singer. The city of Chicago was full of young aspiring talents seeking to achieve similar success.
As a youth in Chicago, he also had the opportunity to attend performances of legendary gospel greats such as Shirley Caesar, Rev. Milton Bronson, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and many more. He continued playing the piano, the drums, writing and singing throughout high school and then began professionally touring and performing with other musicians.
iRon Lion will deliver the best and most requested covers. However the spiritual singer writes his own authentic songs. Most songs are about roots and culture, black and world history, spirituality, love and romance. "I get my inspiration from life", the musician says. According to the artist, his music "reflects a vibe of U.S. inner city soul mixed with Jamaican and African culture". "Reggae music picked me. I did not pick reggae music! Growing up on gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, rock, pop, etc…reggae is the only music that has all that combined but the outcome is its own identity."
An iRon Lion performance brings pure joy, happiness and satisfaction to everyone. You will witness how his sound, beat and rhythms are pure and will capture and entrance his audience.
