Rob Larkin is a seasoned guitarist, singer, and award-winning songwriter, whose music is featured on over 100 radio stations across the US, and television networks/production companies including Discovery, NASCAR Productions, MTV, VH1, Bunim-Murray Productions, and Oxygen Network. With a warm, soulful vocal style and rock solid guitar skills, Rob's music is infectious. The music is often compared to roots rock legends such as Eric Clapton and The Band, as well as contemporaries such as John Mayer and Ryan Adams.
Rob is a true professional, with a warm personality and strong attention to detail. References are available upon request, from event planners, hosts and venue owners. Rob regularly tours the west coast and other regions as a solo act, in acoustic duos featuring vocal harmonies, and with his funky roots rock band The Wayward Ones. He travels with his state of the art Bose sound system, helping to bring a highly professional, rich, warm sound to any performance or event space.
Although he enjoys touring, Rob makes his homebase in Portland because of the incredible talent pool of musicians, producers, and other collaborators. As a session guitarist, Rob has worked with some of the top music producers in town, and top notch musicians including band members from The Wallflowers, Foo Fighters, Leon Russell, and Sheryl Crow. Rob takes this high degree of professionalism to every musical situation, and always remembers to make it fun.
Following his success as lead guitarist and vocalist for east coast and west coast-based bands, Rob recruited some of the best musicians in LA to help record his much-anticipated album, Dogwood Roots. The result is a rich musical stew, with ingredients from righteous organ to down-home harmonica, and everything in between. As a testament to its timelessness, the title track "Dogwood" won the Americana category of the 2011 Show Me the Music Songwriting contest. Another of the songs "Sister Soul" is featured prominently in the feature film Wingman Inc. The Wayward Ones's upcoming album Lights Are Burning has an even catchier array of songs.
In addition to his acclaimed originals, Rob has an extensive list of covers in his repertoire. Many of his regular covers are listed in the Song List on this page, and Rob is happy to learn any requested songs for an event. Rob always strives to make sure that the music fits the event and the audience.
