Shakedown Live Band from Sacramento, CA

Shakedown has been playing up-tempo reggae and dancehall music for the past 8 years. They have an amazing live show which includes two lead singers and a rhythm section that is as good as any you'll find in America. They just released their 3rd full-length album, 'Call It What You Want' on Root One Music. Their new 19 song album has been getting rave reviews from virtually everyone in the California music community. They have shared the stage with such national acts as Slightly Stoopid, Papa Roach, Fishbone, Die Trying, The Mad Caddies, and The Long Beach Dub All-Stars. Their live show is sure to get crowds of any age moving and dancing on the floor. Positive energy and a lively but peaceful atmosphere are mainstays at Shakedown shows. Here is a review of the latest record from one of California's most respected music promoters and Magazine editors: Shakedown has been a band in waiting for far too long. With 'Call It What You Want', Shakedown has released a CD that actually captures how great a band they've become in the last couple of years. And it does in a big way. This isn't another Shakedown two or three song EP, but an impressive 18 song full-length. Their sound is an unapologetic tribute to old school ska and reggae dub. It often evokes happy memories of say, the English Beat or even sometimes in a more contemporary vein, Sublime. This CD is dead on. The band is playing in top notch form. The arrangements are tight and groovin'. I Love a band where the singer is as good as the band that is backing him. Jeffry is a truly underappreciated talent in the Sacto music scene. Hopefully this CD will remedy this oversight. Kudos to A.J. for the lively and clean production. There is so much going on musically, but it never sounds busy...Active, yes. Groovin', absolutely. and so, so soulful. Hey it even has a bonus track that is actually a bonus! When does that ever happen? It's a lovely little acoustic ballad that ends the CD with just the right vibe. The guys are very excited about this release, and righttfully so.
