Old Moonlight is a rock band from Washington, D.C. made up of Sam Gyllenhaal on guitar and vocals, Danny Goldberg on drums, Nick Seaman on bass, Alex Schreiner on Vocals, and Taylor Burke on lead guitar. They've been playing together since the summer of 2013, when Sam - the main songwriter for the band - moved to D.C. from Nashville, TN. The band boasts an extensive, diverse resume of highly received performances spanning across the country that includes large corporate functions, weddings, music festivals, top-ranked music venues, and small house parties. In short, the range and type of show Old Moonlight is able to put on has no limits or boundaries (to note, the group will take offers for either a full-band performance or stripped down acoustic set).
Old Moonlight plays a wide variety of original material as well as cover songs, all with energy, precession, and soul. Their sound is a modern blend of southern rock, California country, folk, and classic rock influences. Recently, the band has teamed up with award-winning producer/engineer Conrad Osipowicz (Dave Matthews Band, State Radio, Regina Spektor) to record a live EP, The Blue Room Sessions, Vol. 1 (now available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon). As the follow-up to their first EP, "Almost Home," this album packs the same energy from the band's debut that has driven them to the forefront of D.C.'s rising music scene.
With growth, Old Moonlight has stayed true to its roots that are largely founded in the works of artists such as the Eagles and Tom Petty. In their live performances, the band is defined by a raw energy and spirit that have people of all ages dancing in minutes. Gyllenhaal as the lead songwriter and band leader has consistently demonstrated his musical prowess with his harmony-focused collection of compositions and arrangements. As a band, Old Moonlight is incredibly adaptable and will work with you to bring to life the performance that you envision for your function. Always eager and willing to take specific song requests, we will make sure your guests/audience are engaged, energized, comfortable, and (most importantly) having fun for the duration of the event.
