Glory Days Band.
A very versatile band specializing in Classic Rock, with a bit of each of the following: 50's rock, Modern Country, and crowd pleasing Fiddle tunes.
A few of the band's we cover:
Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Paul McCartney and Wings, The Doors, 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, ZZ Top, Stevie Nicks, Doobie Brothers, Creedence Clearwater, Spencer Davis, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Elton John, Steve Miller, Eddie Money, Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Toto, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Motels, ELO, Linda Ronstadt, Buddy Holly, various oldies, Chris Stapleton, Midland, Toby Keith, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Combs, Charlie Daniels...to name a few.
The roots of the band began in 1980 when guitar player Dave Peterson met bassist Jeff Kuhns and they started a band. Dave and Jeff were joined by the youngest Peterson, Bob who played drums. These three young rock-n-rollers played High School talent shows. It was during their performance at the 1983 Senior High farewell assembly that the eldest Peterson sibling, Ben – who had played bass and drums in bands during the 70s, was impressed with what he had heard and decided that he would approach his younger brothers and sisters (Suzy and Buffy) about forming a band – The Peterson Siblings Band, an idea that brought to life!
'The Peterson Siblings' played County Fairs and City events around Southwest Missouri. About that same time a new music TV program was airing in Joplin and the band performed as the first featured act on the program, 'Music Makers'.
In 1985 the band split and all three brothers went their separate ways, each going to different towns in Texas. But it wasn't long before they rejoined forces in Houston in 1987 with hopes of 'making something happen' – musically.
Jeff Kuhns got the call and moved to Houston to rejoin the band which was now hitting on all cylinders. Playing in a big city was priceless, and they soon found themselves on the road playing in countless venues across 32 States for a span of three years.
Music was changing by the early 90s and country music was making a big splash. It was just the ticket for Dave and Ben while Bob and Jeff made the decision to bow out of the band for a bit.
During 1991 to 1997 Dave, Ben and their sister Buffy stayed in Houston and thrived there in the country music scene. Ben had an old bandmate, Mike Kibbey who was living there at the time and Mike joined up with The Petersons again. Ben and Mike had originally formed a band when they were kids in Iowa.
While in Houston, band names came and went, but the passion to play music could not be erased. Performing live music – Somewhere, Anywhere – was always the focus.
In 1997 Ben, Dave and Buffy moved back to Joplin, Missouri to be close to family. Immediately upon their arrival, Dave and Ben both found a Branson-style theatre in Grove, Oklahoma in need of pickers, and they joined the Grand Lake Opry Band where they stayed on for the entire theatrical season.
The next year brought more exciting changes as Dave was hired for the guitar vacancy at the Country USA Theatre also in Grove. Ben stayed on a 2nd year at the Grand Lake Opry. Additionally, Dave and Ben opened a retail musical instrument store in Webb City, Missouri - The 'Glory Days Music Store' – named after their Grandfather, a touring trumpet player in a variety of swinging big bands of the 1940s and 50s.
Out of these experiences, the Peterson siblings decided to open their own Branson style theatre in 1999. The site was an old movie theatre in downtown Webb City, Missouri just off of the historic Route 66 Highway. After much restoration and expense, The Route 66 Music Theatre opened a variety show to the public in 1999! Ben's son Benji was also a featured musician in the show.
The Route 66 Magazine, a very popular periodical in Europe, featured 'The Peterson Siblings' and their theatre, in a summer 1999 issue!
Glory Days Music store relocated to nearby Joplin in 2000 but unfortunately was destroyed by an EF5 tornado (2011). From 2004 to 2011 the band performed inside their music store which included a Live Music Venue every Saturday night. The last performance at this site was Saturday May 21st, one night before the EF5 tornado.
The Peterson's are survivors and still operate Glory Days Music, a thriving, diverse and fun store in Joplin, when not performing music!
