Imagine questioning a conceited Emperor about his "new clothes" at a Royal Press Conference! Magpie Puppets performances actively engage children. In Moccasin Stew, children change the scenery with a magic chant. In Eeyore's Birthday, they help Pooh Bear remember birthday protocol. Depending on the age group and venue, each performance opens with a guitar sing-along or a lively lecture/demonstration about how puppets are made and manipulated. Performances run approximately 45-55 minutes and are appropriate for both large assemblies and small groups. Study guides are provided for school performances. In addition to puppet shows for children, Magpie Puppets offers a shadow puppet show for adults called Shadow Songs and Stories. The show includes five songs and two short stories, all performed with humor and hand-cut shadow puppets. Magpie Puppets performs puppet shows in the Boston area and throughout New England and participates in the New England States Touring Program. Birthday party puppet shows take place in your home and make your child's party memorable (and manageable!) Please note that the maximum travel distance for birthday parties is 30 miles. Director Maggie Whalen is an active member of the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry and has served on its Board in various capacities. She is also a member of Puppeteers of America.
