I am well known around Orange County/ Los Angeles for my one-of-a-kind sets as I transition seamlessly between songs to provide non-stop music; I was classically-trained, but I play everything from Elton John to John Legend to The Beatles to Ratatat to Jack Johnson to Adele to Kid Cudi to Avicii to Metallica to Pink Floyd to soundtrack themes (such as the themes from The Godfather and Pirates of the Caribbean or The Dark Knight). Any teens and 20-60 somethings should be able to recognize the songs I play when I perform. I am a very entertaining pianist to watch and listen to!
Back in 2001, I became the youngest person to ever pass the "Level 5" exam (it is required as a teaching credential for teachers at the Yamaha Music Schools) and I passed the prestigious Certificate of Merit MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California) Advanced level (Level 10) exam with a 98% on theory in 2004 as a high school freshman. In 2006, when I was a junior in high school, I decided to sign up to take the Music Theory AP Examination without taking an official preparatory class and received a 5 on the examination (highest score). I also played violin for 6 years when I was younger and flute for 2 years; I played both violin and piano for my high school's Honors String Sinfonia (but stopped playing violin after high school; graduated in 2007) and was the pianist for the pit orchestra for two of my high school's musicals, Fiddler on the Roof and Company. Also, in 2007 I received 1st place in the Dan Stover Memorial Music Competition for the Claremont Region and went on to receive 2nd place in the Dan Stover Southern California Regional Music Competition for my performance of Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu. I then attended UC Berkeley for my undergraduate degree and graduated a semester early in December 2010 from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Legal Studies and a Music Minor. During my time at UC Berkeley I participated in a semester-long chamber orchestra and was their resident timpanist and pianist and also performed in a handful of different bands ranging from rock to electronica to reggae.
I have performed for two TEDx events, TEDxUCSD 2013 and TEDxCambridgeUniversity 2014, and have been hired to perform as a solo pianist for audiences as large as 10,000 people (Anaheim Convention Center); when I was living in the Bay Area (2007-2013) I was performing weekly at pizzerias, wine bars, and wineries weekly in East Bay (Berkeley, Alameda, Livermore).
Also, three of my multi-instrument arrangements were reposted on Facebook by the multi-Grammy-award-winning DJ, Skrillex in 2011. In 2012, LA Weekly published a story about me and my music online and in print. I wrote some original pieces for a documentary in 2013 and I scored my first commercial n September of 2014. After returning to America from Eastern Europe I decided to move back down to Southern California (from the Bay Area/Norcal) and am now performing many private and public gigs as well as composing and arranging.
