Reginald R. Robinson, born and raised in Chicago is a noted pianist/composer of Semi-Classical, Ragtime, Latin American and early Jazz & Blues styles. He is also an educator on ragtime music across the U.S.

His first musical experiences were listening to his mother and father play records at home of everything from Classical to R&B music. In 1984 he and his brothers started making music after his brother Marlando picked up the guitar. Marlando introduced Reginald's to the Big Band Music of the late 30's and 40's. He soon developed a true respect for older music forms.

Reginald became interested in playing Ragtime in 1986 in 7th grade while attending Robert Emmett Elementary School after a city funded arts program visited the school. The musicians covered many different styles from Beethoven to Miles Davis but Reginald paid close attention when the musicians talked about Ragtime and performed "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin.

Reginald Robinson's performing career began in 1992.
Reginald recorded three CD's for Delmark Records from 1993-1998 and has been a guest on Marian McPartland's long running radio show "Piano Jazz".

In September 2004 Reginald received a MacArthur Fellows Grant for his innovation in ragtime music. Reginald released his fourth album Man Out of Time in 2006 and was a guest on "A Prairie Home Companion" in the same year.

In the summer of 2007 he performed with "Orbert Davis' Chicago Jazz Philharmonic." An original piece called "Concerto for a Genius" which consisted of four of Reginald's original compositions arranged for full orchestra by Orbert Davis. Reginald has also written music for film and theater.

Between performing and composing, he occasionally visits public schools teaching children the important influence ragtime music has had on American music, with the thought in mind that it is important for ragtime music to reach a younger and wider audience in order for the music to continue to live.
