Nick's playing is sensitive, beautiful and profoundly pleasing as he connects with his audience through the piano. You will immediately feel comfortable, relaxed and in a "new zone" far away from the trials of the day.
A few of Nick's most recent performances include a Corporate Event in Miami Beach, a wedding reception in Miami, an anniversary party in Boca Raton and a birthday party in Parkland.
Nick's clients have been very pleased with his playing and have mentioned the delight in having their guests compliment his playing. One client mentioned that a guest at her party, a composer and pianist himself, told her he was "blown away" by Nick's playing. Another guest called out from the dinner table to Nick, as he was leaving at the conclusion of the party, and told him that she thoroughly enjoyed his playing. The other guests at the table began to clap and that clapping spread to the rest of the room.
Nick plays a variety of music such as familiar jazz standards like "Misty", "Fly Me To The Moon"; show tunes like "Cabaret" and "I Dreamed A Dream"; hit songs from the movies like "Unchained Melody" from Ghost, "When I Fall in Love" from Sleepless in Seattle, and contemporary hit tunes like "Hello" by Lionel Richie, "Piano Man" by Billy Joel and "Crazy For You" by Adele. Check out Nick's complete song list.
Nick's background includes a Bachelor of Music degree from the Catholic University of America School of Music and private study of music composition in New York City with Pulitzer Prize nominee Frank Retzel, Ph. D. Many of Nick's compositions have been awarded performances through national and international competition and Nick has many original compositions and arrangements that are sold through Sheet Music Plus (based in California) and MusicaNEO (based in Switzerland). Two of Nick's original compositions were selected for inclusion in the Archives and Manuscript Division of the New York City Public Library.
Nick taught piano for over 25 years and is President emeritus of the Minnesota River Valley Music Teachers Association. Nick also served as state and national liaison of the Minneapolis Music Teacher Forum and was the founding conductor and music director of the Audubon Symphony Orchestra.
Nick is currently writing and arranging music as he performs locally in the South Florida area. Nick offers a fresh approach to the songs he plays by improvising which brings a new, spontaneous and wonderfully personal dimension to the music. Nick's improvisation is sometimes jazzy as in "Georgia", at other times poignant as in the classic "Autumn Leaves" or tender as in "Unchained Melody".
