Charming Jazz is the newest in-demand jazz ensemble that hit the New York City live music scene. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, singer Charmae's voice is often described as a mix of Billy Holiday and Etta James, with a little hint of Ella. She met veteran jazz pianist Floris Boere in early 2018, who had just released his own full-length album "Going". They bonded over their shared love for vocal jazz music of the early 20th century and decided to form a duo. That Summer, they started performing at private gatherings, weddings and restaurant venues such as Jules Bistro and Le P'tit. The ensemble can be booked as a duo, trio or a quartet with bass & drums. Booking up to 4 hours are possible. If there is no piano on site, Floris can bring his own electric piano, or a rental can be arranged.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Floris Boere. His involvement made all the difference to my event: the music he selected (after we spoke) was exquisite; the selection was eclectic and elegant; the volume of the music was perfect - not intrusive but loud enough to provide a lovely backdrop to the brunch. Floris and I spoke a few times before the event and I thoroughly enjoyed our discussions: I had no doubt that he understood what I wanted and would meet my expectations: indeed, I believe he exceeded my expectations. My guests raved about him. I wholeheartedly recommend him - he is fabulous personally and professionally, as is his performance.

Floris played at my parents 50th anniversary party and was a perfect addition to the celebration! He plays beautifully, has a wide repertoire and was very good at gauging the tempo of the party. My parents were thrilled when he played their wedding song (with very little notice from their party planner, me!) He was also incredibly pleasant during the planning process- great attention to details, responsive and very professional. I would definitely hire him again!
