What began as a passion for fine art photography has turned into a career of a lifetime for me. I was always a creator of things when I was a kid. My dad was a contractor and I would be on a build site building airplanes, go carts, and all sorts of contraptions out of leftover materials. In junior high I was introduced to an art class that opened up my world to what I could do creatively. I had no idea I could draw until that point. It was that class that prompted me to take more in college and that was when I discovered the depth of my own creativity. Whether it was drawing with charcoal, pen and ink, oils, painting, manipulating paper into 2D creations, graphic design, print making, I had a knack for it all. I soon earned a scholarship in the arts and as I took on more art classes photography stepped into my life. It was after I picked up that first SLR Pentax that I knew where my life was going. I saw the world in a whole new way and strived to make an impression with my work. I even took the initiative to do solo exhibitions while I was still a student. I had a deep interest in b&w landscapes, particularly through the lens of toy cameras like the Holga. It didn't take long before I ended up changing my major and in 2006 I graduated from Marshall University with a degree in fine art photography. It was after I graduated that I ever thought of pursuing the life of a wedding and portrait photographer. It was during that first wedding I shot for a friend I came to a realization that I had found another avenue for my art. It was amazing to me that you could capture memories from such a landmark day in someone's life and make them into beautiful works of art. My style developed into a mix of photojournalism meets traditional meets vogue magazine. It didn't take long before I branched out to portraits. Families, kids, babies, couples, even pets. I love it all. A candid moment can be powerful and I pour myself into capturing them. So here I am today, doing what I love and loving what I do.
