My passion for photography began while I was a student at Virginia Tech. As a photographer for the school newspaper, I primarily photographed sports, concerts, and news events. There I developed my talent of translating what I saw through the viewfinder of my camera to film. During that time I built my knowledge of exposure and composition as I fell in love with the timeless simplicity of the black and white image. It wasn't until after graduation, though, when a friend asked me to photograph her wedding, that I found myself getting equally as passionate about capturing the intimate moments of a couple on their wedding day. Almost 20 years later, it is still my greatest pleasure to watch newlyweds relive their special day as they view for the very first time, the images I have captured. I truly love my job! My shooting style is both photojournalistic and traditional. Candid shots capture true natural emotions and reflect the energy and excitement of your day. My experience as a photojournalist has developed my ability to capture the subtle glances, tender moments, and simple gestures that make each couple's wedding day unique. From the slightest element, like seating cards on the guest table, to the grand overviews of your reception, I am able to create classic images that tell the complete story of your day, without directing the action. Realizing that formal poses of individuals and groups may be important for friends and family, I also create more traditional images of your wedding day. By developing a close rapport with each bride and groom before the wedding, I am able to see and capture the nuances that make each couple who they are. Thus, I am better able to understand their photographic needs and style. I consider it a privilege to be a wedding photographer. Documenting the most important, intimate moments in a couple's life is an enormous responsibility ~ one I do not take lightly. When the music stops and your friends and family have gone home, the images of your wedding day will provide memories that last a lifetime. It is my promise to capture the variety and depth of emotions your special day inspires in a friendly, unobtrusive manner.
