Fog Swamp Variety Band from San Francisco, CA

Fog Swamp is a San Francisco-based assemblage of first-call musicians that performs mostly swamp rock. Steeped in genres ranging from rock, New Orleans funk & blues to bluegrass and jazz, Fog Swamp's members have toured the world, having shared stages with The Meters, Wilco, Dave Brubeck, Phil Lesh, Ben Harper, The Radiators and others. No Depression magazine called Fog Swamp it's discovery of the year - "Bluesy to a degree, the music conveys a swampy sound that's sly, shifting and consistently seductive, an ideal combination that immediately sets them apart from the competition." The band has two entirely different gears and has an extensive catalog of both fast and slow original and cover material and plays both electric and acoustic sets. Band Member Bios Alex Wise – guitar, vocals Guitarist/singer/songwriter Alex Wise has produced two solo albums, Blurred and Front Porch, and his funk band The Shreep's CD, Shreepwalkin', was released by Gianormous Records. Wise has made numerous TV & radio appearances, has performed extensively all over the U.S. and Asia, and his songs have been used in feature films and video games. He's shared the stage with Brian Stoltz, The Monophonics, members of The Radiators, Hootie & The Blowfish, George Porter Jr. and others. Alex also hosts a radio show on environmental issues called Sea Change Radio, which airs on over 60 stations around the country. Ted Silverman – bass, vocals When he's not toiling with technology, Ted Silverman spends his time playing mandolin, bass or guitar with anyone who will give him a chance to show off his G run. Ted lives in San Francisco, plays rock, swing, blues, bluegrass and more and is a founding member of the Chazz Cats as well as Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys. Ted has performed in Europe, at clubs up and down the West Coast and at Festivals like the Oregon Country Fair, The Strawberry Music Festival and The Haight Street Fair. Emery Dora – keys, trumpet and vocals Emery Dora is a first-call keyboard player who's been performing professionally since 1996. A classically trained pianist, Emery has performed with several stand-out Bay Area bands such as 008, Tree o' Frogs, Stymie & the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra and Mushroom. He's had the pleasure of sharing the stage with world-class musicians such as Yes, Les Claypool, Funky Meters and Maceo Parker. Bill Hanelius – guitar, vocals For the past 45 years Bill has spent most of his waking hours with a guitar in his hands. A transplant from the east coast, Bill played the club and festival circuit extensively during the '70's, 80's and 90's throughout New England. Besides playing with Fog Swamp, you can find him at various venues around San Francisco playing jazz and swing standards with the Bessoni Organ Trio. Jeff Ballard – harmonica, percussion and vocals Jeff Ballard has played and recorded blues harp and jazz harmonica with bands such as The Fall Risk and Alex Wise. A versatile session player, he has recorded with numerous Bay Area artists and shared the stage with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Jack Casady and Phil Lesh. Schad Dalton – drums, percussion A native Ohioan and international man of mystery, Schad Dalton fog swamp 3brought his drumming talents to San Francisco to escape the brutal winters of his home state. First picking up a pair of drumsticks in the fifth grade, Schad hasn't put them down in nearly 20 years (rumor has it he sleeps with a pair of sticks clasped in his hands, leading to many broken alarm clocks over the years). Schad began his career at the age of 16, has recorded an EP of original music with his former band –As of Yet– and has done hours of session work. Schad has been influenced by such drummers as Carter Beauford, Keith Moon, and Dennis Chambers and has shared the stage with such artists as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for all you know :-)
