Dave Freeman has done many different types of projects during a lifetime of entertaining. As a kid growing up on a small farm in Anson County, NC he met a couple of youngsters who had learned enough to start a band and Freeman jumped in with his old National resonator guitar and a strong baritone and thus it began. Freeman played in a number of bands throughout his high school and college years but fell silent during a white collar career in insurance. Realizing that the magnetic appeal of the music industry would not disappear he finally capitulated in the 80's and began full-time attention to his music. During the period that followed Freeman shared the stage with numerous national acts as varied as John Lee Hooker, Hank Williams, Jr. and Hootie and the Blowfish. He also edited the local music publication, "Charlotte Monthly" for 15 years.

In 2000 he left his adopted city, and moved to the Myrtle Beach area where he lives today. After 5 years of running the Pad in North Myrtle Beach, Freeman returned to the music business full time and put out his first beach music CD release, "I Found Somebody" on Bradley House Records. The CD was recorded with Neptune's Blues Band, the house band at the Pad, on most of the tracks. His rendition of the Freddie King tune, "Boatdock" reached the top 5 on most beach music charts getting airplay throughout the Carolinas and significant play in other markets including Atlanta and Pittsburgh. His CD was nominated for "CD of the Year" by the Carolina Beach Music Awards.
Playing live, whether as a single, duo or band, Freeman offers a variety of music, not just beach. In fact, in some venues he plays more southern rock, country and classic R&R and practically no R&B. On the other hand, when he plays a beach room, he does almost all material in the R&B/Pop fields that are classic icons of beach music.
Nowadays, Freeman plays on the Big M Casino boat that sails out of Little River six days a week. The number of cruises for Dave varies between 2 and 4 per week. Part of his show is to introduce those who are visiting from outside the Carolinas to a sampling of the pop culture of the Carolinas with stories and tunes from the entertainers who grew up here.

The show that he prefers to do is a sampling of Carolina-based tunes that span the period from the beginning of populas music in the 1800's to the 40's with Buddy and Ella Johnson, to the present with Hanna, SC's Josh Turner. In between there are tunes by The Drifters, Brook Benton, Chubby Checker, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniel's, Randy Travis, Alabama, The Embers and others, Carolinians all.
