I cannot adequately express how amazing The Moon and You are, as musicians, as vendors, and as people! They absolutely MADE our wedding. First of all, they're both the most genuine, kind, sincere people you could ever hope to meet, the type of people you wish lived close enough to become friends with. They were extremely communicative during booking/planning and very accommodating of our requests (even to some made by my father!). They have the perfect sound for us, and are both so creative and talented. My wife and I keep their CD in our car and listen to it more often than we'll admit. We follow their travels and can't wait until their next trip to Atlanta!

From the moment we first contacted them up regarding booking until their packing things up after their performance, the process was very smooth. The music was beautiful; Melissa and Ryan even learned a song to specifically play for our unity ceremony. Several guests came to me during the cocktail hour complimenting their music and asked for their information. Very happy in choosing them! Was a highlight of the entire evening.

Wedding CeremonyReviewed on August 5, 2013From Maggie Valley, NC

My now-husband prides himself on his taste in music, so we were really picky about who played our ceremony/cocktail hour. We wanted someone with a style of their own, not just someone who would play the typical wedding songs (although I'm sure Melissa and Ryan can easily pull those off). Melissa and Ryan were perfect. They kept the cocktail hour upbeat and fun and played all of the songs we requested, but with their own personal touch. Plus, Melissa and Ryan came to the reception to play our first dance song for us. They were so easy to work with and so happy. They brought a wonderful vibe to our wedding and I would hands-down recommend them.

Melissa and Ryan played ceremony and cocktail hour music for my wedding in Candler, NC. She was awesome to work with, had great music suggestions, and was willing to learn new songs. The music was beautiful and my guests loved her! She's so very talented. I wish I could've been a guest so I could hear all that she played, but from what I did hear it was beautiful and created a great theme and vibe for the best day of my life!

Melissa Hyman was more than perfect for our special day! She played the music we wanted and it was beautiful. I only wish I could have heard more of it. The crowd told me it was lovely! Melissa was very professional through the whole process. She always emailed me back immediately and was very pleasant to work with! I would definitely recommend her for any occasion.

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on August 10, 2013From Hot Springs, NC

We hired Melissa and Ryan last minute for our wedding which was a small gathering of friends and family. I made one request for our first dance, a piano tune, which they didn't know but learned quickly. The cello/guitar combo worked well with the song, it was beautiful, and I am grateful. I was preoccupied most of the evening, but everyone agreed that the band was great. They were so good, in fact, that the wedding coordinators at the venue will now be adding them to their list of vendors!

WeddingReviewed on May 22, 2012From Barnardsville, NC

I found Melissa after watching a video on a local Asheville wedding blog. She played the cello and sang with her friend guitarist and vocalist, Ryan Furstenberg at our rustic Hawk and Ivy wedding. For our ceremony they played in a meadow and even practiced the cliche wedding songs I requested. After the wedding, they played during cocktail hour in a barn and I didn't have any music requests, but they built off the energy and mood of the event and the music was awesome. My wedding was rustic and vintage. Melissa understood what I was going for! Very professional and arrived with plenty of set up time. I personally play violin..trust me she can rock a cello.

Melissa and Chelsea provided the perfect music for the ceremony and cocktail hour of my wedding. It was exactly what I wanted- songs that were familiar and sweet, but nothing too traditional. I also had some special requests for them, and they learned 2 new songs for my event. They were such a pleasure to work with- always so sweet and creative and accomodating. They are talented and brilliant!

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on July 2, 2011From Jefferson, NC

Melissa and her duo partner, Andy Burke, were excellent, both in their performance and in accommodating our special requests. Many of our wedding guests complimented the music and asked for more information about the duo! Melissa and Andy exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend them for events. Melissa handled the logistics and was a delight to work with. Thumbs up all the way around!

Melissa and her accompanying musicians were a joy to work with. My daughter wanted mountain country ballad and light bluegrass music to set the tone for her mountain/country wedding and Melissa was a terrific choice. Melissa recommended selections that worked very well for the ceremony style. She played the cello; Andy and Ryan played mandolin and guitar - a wonderful threesome. She was clear about contract arrangements, very organized, on-time for our ceremony. Our guests loved her music and choices and are still commenting on the unique ceremony and wedding music! I can highly recommend Melissa without reservation.

Just incredible!True musical artist. Choosing the music for our wedding was extremely important to us. We could not have choose better. So many compliments from our guests. Melissa and Ryan were the perfect match for our wedding. We requested two of our favorite songs, which they took the time to learn, and actually played them better then the originals. So happy we have it recorded.I can’t say enough about this group, their talent is incredible, their sound is absolutely beautiful. We will be hiring them again for our first anniversary. They are also the sweetest people! So down to earth. We absolutely love these 2 and their music! So much talent! We were so impressed

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on February 6, 2016From Hickory, NC

We hired The Moon & You for our wedding and from the very beginning Melissa was wonderful to work with. She responded quickly to emails and worked with our budget to make sure our entertainment wants and financial needs were both met. We were originally looking for one group to play our ceremony and another to play the reception but once we came across The Moon & You we knew they were the whole package! They played all of our ceremony music then they played our reception following our meal. They even learned a new song to play for our first dance- and nailed it! Our guests are still talking about how great the music was! Thank you both for exceeding our expectations!

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on November 7, 2015From Horse Shoe, NC

Where to start? 6/5 Stars at least! Moon and You made our outdoor mountain wedding ceremony AND reception the most special and memorable occasion possible. By the end, nearly every guest had pulled me aside and fumbled in disbelief at describing the level of beauty, relevance, delivery, professionalism, talent and style they had witnessed in this band! They MC'd, played the requested dances, and the atmosphere they provided at the ceremony surpassed my wildest imagination. Their fee was nowhere near enough for what we received. They took so much off of my back! They kept very close contact and nailed EVERY detail. Support TMAY, music desrves it!Nora Jones move over!!

The Moon and You was amazing to work with! They are super talented and were able to accommodate our song requests with ease. They have a great repertoire that really suited our musical taste so it was easy to identify great tunes for the ceremony and reception. Melissa was a pleasure to communicate with - even while they were touring. I highly recommend The Moon and You!

WeddingReviewed on October 27, 2015From Hot Springs, NC

The Moon & You were one of the BEST parts of our wedding day! Melissa was so understanding and accommodating as we planned our ceremony. They were so sweet to play a song not on their song list for us during our ceremony. They were the PERFECT duo to play during cocktail hour, as well. My 91-year-old grandma made a song request and was singing along! My only regret about our wedding was that we didn't hire a videographer. The primary reason for that regret was because I wish we had our musicians amazing talent and our guests' enjoyment on film!

Birthday Party (Adult)Reviewed on August 25, 2015From Asheville, NC

We can't wait for Melissa and Ryan to tour near us so we can have the pleasure of seeing them perform again! They are incredibly talented and absolutely made my sister's birthday. We were intending to have a larger group but weather and travel delays kept some of our friends from making it to Asheville on time. I was nervous... how would Melissa and Ryan feel about performing for a small group of 6? They were simply amazing! They learned a few songs for my sister (putting their own beautiful twists on them) and I know she will never forget that performance. They were SUCH good sports, no matter how silly our group acted. SO much fun and SO much talent.
