Our Oct 22, 2006 performance produced the following reaction from our client:
Gospel, Jazz, Style, and Grace, all wrapped up in one! The Wedding Band recently performed at a huge 50th Birthday Blessing Celebration for our beloved sister, Dr. Perry, at the Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom, in College Park, Maryland. The event was purely SPECTACULAR! For our listening enjoyment, musical pleasure, and dancing delight, they brought it all!
Not just any jazz combo, or entertainment group; the Wedding Band brings to our area some traditional jazz and gospel anthems along with their very own unique and original tunes...all with a splash of New Orleans flair.
Their leader, John Lowery, hailing from New Orleans and recently relocated to the Washington DC area by Hurricane Katrina, has mixed it up with many jazz and gospel greats, including such artist as Aaron Neville, and Jr. Walker and the All Stars, as well as many of the timeless legends of New Orleans.
Hearing and seeing this group perform is a rare treat. Their music takes you on a mystical journey with R&B, Conga, Calypso, Gospel, Jazz, Scat, and many, many, other American, African, and Latino rhythmic styles; all creating a power-packed performance of musical magic.
My comments to Wedding band after their performance were: ....words cannot express what my sister and the rest of our family felt and experienced on this past Sunday, at Dr, Perry‚s 50th Birthday Blessing Celebration. This event was the most awesome, awe-inspiring, and power-packed celebration our family has ever had! The performances of all who participated, including every musician, singer, dancer, and performer, were absolutely astonishing! Everything was MARVELOUS!!! My family has received, and continues to receive laudatory phone calls from those who were blessed to be in attendance, absolutely raving about all that transpired.
Equally as talented, Maria Lowery, John's wife, a Colombian born-modern dance and ballerina instructor, presented a dance that she designed and choreographed specially for our occasion. Maria's dance was absolutely fabulous, with a very unique and entertaining mixture of ballet and conga in her routine. She started off solo, then was joined by her husband John, and then solicited the participation of the entire audience. On one of her recent performances at the BlackRock Cultural Arts Center in Germantown, Maryland, Maria's graceful performance to the gospel song, "We Must Praise", included the integration of media, props, and her family as well, and was purely divine. My comments to her were that she had the visage of an Angel!
