Chris Eric started back in the days of concert band in elementary school playing clarinet. But it was the first time he heard MTA by the Kingston Trio on an old reel to reel machine hooked him, he knew music was in his DNA. This established his passion for music, especially the 50's and 60's. In his teens he moved on to guitar against his father's wishes which created his drive to become a musician. In addition to learning to sing and play guitar, Chris has learned to play multiple instruments over time such as drums, piano, ukulele, Banjo and Harmonica.
Chris has now been an acoustic singer/songwriter known as Sunday Speedtrap for twenty-four plus years, performing over 1,200 original and cover shows and releasing 13 independent original records. Reviewers have noted that they are reminded of Jon Bon Jovi when they hear my voice and that I am always on time and reliable.
In the early days there were coffee shops, bars and clubs opening for anyone from punk bands, rock bands, rap artists to singer/songwriters. One of his personal highlights was opening for Bill Haley's Comets.
When hiring me you are getting a professional artist who is deeply passionate about music. In addition to performing music, Chris also has taken several classes on the History of Rock & Roll (1955 to 1969), The Music of the Beatles, The Music of the Rolling Stones from the University of Rochester. He brings this knowledge into his shows telling background stories about the songs he performs.
Perfect for family environments he has performed at notable community events like MCS Touch A Truck, JLS Touch A Truck, Seattle Folklife Festival, Puyallup Meeker Days, Renton River days, Thurston County Fair, Yakima Folklife Festival, Central Wa State Fair, Spokane Interstate Fair and the Lacey Spring Fair. He also performs across the state at various Farmer's Markets such as Puyallup, Bainbridge Island, Lake Chelan, Leavenworth, Shoreline, Jefferson County, Queen Anne, Everett, Snohomish, Sammamish, Port Angeles, Renton and Salem OR.
