Pleneros D' Boriken World Music Band from Rochester, NY

Pleneros D' Borikén specializes in event presentations and shows featuring the traditional Plena music of Puerto Rico. Plena is the music of the Puerto Rican people, it is played by any group, anywhere, and for any reason including: birthdays, funerals, weddings, sports, political celebrations, and political protests. Pleneros D'Boriken give their audiences an overview of this rich genre from the contributions of their European, African, and Taino ancestors; to the different styles still evolving in the island. Their presentations and shows conclude with a “Plenazo” in which the audiences also become performers. They have performed in festivals, cultural /multicultural events, private and public celebrations, and fundraisers mainly in the areas of Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. They will definitely consider events outside these areas.
