Colin Gordon is an award winning jazz saxophonist, composer, and musical educator residing in New York City. He performs with his own group and teaches music regularly in the NYC area, and is available to play for parties, cocktail hours, wedding receptions, or any private event.
Colin received scholarships to attend the Eastman School of Music (MM 2012) and SUNY Purchase (BM 2010) where he won awards as both a jazz soloist and a jazz composer. He was most recently featured as the soprano saxophone soloist on Jennifer Bellor's big band piece Midnight Swim (2013) winning the DownBeat Outstanding Performance Award. He has played at some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in New York City (Birdland, Smoke, Smalls, Shapeshifter Lap) and larger venues (Symphony Space, Westchester Performing Arts Center, City Winery) as well as having played at venues and festivals in Europe, throughout (Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia).
What separates this jazz band from your average musicians is it's high level of musicianship, professionalism, and the willingness to accommodate ANY requests. The extensive song list represents the vast repertoire, and if anyone were to request songs not on they list, it is guaranteed the band will put in the time and effort to learn them.
This group is not only made up of well trained professional musicians, but it also has the capabilities of being as diverse and eclectic as any band in NYC. The musicians have studied various genre's of music, and can correlate the sound of various musical styles into their own unique sound.
