Students often feel the pressure of not being in control of their future or having to conform to the tradition of a 4 year university simply because "everybody else is doing it." Ty empowers students to take control of their own destiny, now more than ever, realizing the value of self worth in pursuit of personal success. His "Do it now" speech motivates high school, college, and potential college students to navigate through college based on their own unique destiny as opposed to a universal purpose in life. Students will leave his presentation believing that they are in control of their destiny with the understanding that realization of self is the first step in navigating the battlefield of higher education; and refusing to live life through a traditional sense of accomplishment will take them further than they, or any doubter in their way, could have ever thought possible. His personal story of destiny will shatter any doubt that dreams can and do become a reality when they are visualized from a more exclusive perspective that results in selfless endeavors. He also offers an engaging Q and A session at the conclusion.
Tyrone's whole life has been confronted with adversity, from the time he first entered this world in need of a miracle to survive, to being diagnosed with Supraglottitis, a rare respiratory disease, prior to being sexually victimized as a young child, and culminating to a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder at the age of twenty.
It wasn't until he graduated high school and immediately transitioned into college that he discovered he was different from a mental standpoint, dropping out of Wayne State University after three highly successful semesters and in the midst of a fourth. His life fell apart from there, living in meaninglessness with the contemplation of suicide watching his every move, being successfully countered by a will to survive for the sake of his mother.
Twelve years of monotony in failed relationships and lifeless jobs set off a rage inside of him that refused to go away, and after being told by his mother to not bore her with his job troubles unless he was going to do something about it he put his desperation into action and enrolled in The College of Southern Nevada in the fall of 2013.
Coming to CSN put him in position for a life altering experience with a COM 101 instructor who, after hearing four assigned speeches, wrote six words on his speech critique that would change his life from that point forward: "you are destined for greatness, Tyrone." This inspired his deep interest in becoming a motivational speaker and he began speaking to that same COM 101 instructor's classes in the following semesters.
With his newfound destiny as a motivational speaker and his desire to become a victim advocate in response to his own abuse, he vows to change the shape of the world one student at a time, one victim at a time. Ty is featured in the student success documentary, "No Greater Odds," a documentary that highlights the importance of community colleges and the students they serve. Be sure to watch the No Greater Odds trailer in his video section; it is the very first video.
Ty is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the National Vocational Technical Honor Society, a graduate from The National Institute of Technology (Everest Institute), the Outstanding Student of the Year 2014-15 for the Criminal Justice Department at The College of Southern Nevada, and a 2016 Achieving the Dream Scholar. He graduated with high honors and an AAS Degree in Criminal Justice from The College of Southern Nevada in May, 2016. Ty will be on a conference tour for the "No Greater Odds" documentary in 2016, which kicked off with the NACADA Academic Advising Conference he was part of in October, 2015, at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, NV, but will continue to make himself available for speaking engagements. He enjoys speaking to students about the importance of going to college directly after high school, or getting back in the game, and doing it now. Ty is big on realizing your self-worth, finishing what you start, and living out your destiny.
