As a single parent with only $2,000 to my name and no other source of income, I started an asset management and financial planning practice from scratch. After building the business to approx. $200 million in assets under management, in 2007 I sold my business and now enjoy helping other businesses and individuals find greater success.

While in the process of a divorce with no child support, alimony or other source of income, and only $2,000 to my name, I moved my children and myself 70 miles and started my own business. At the new location I was offered a salaried position at a higher pay then I had ever had before but realized they were hiring me at "the top of the ladder" leaving me no place to grow. I did not want a job. I needed a career. Keeping my mind focused on the life and business I needed to build for my children and myself seemed impossible in my current state of mind and with all I was currently dealing with.
I learned quickly that I needed to focus on my long term vision for my family and my business. Living in the constant fear of how we would get by from day to day would not enable me to build the life and business we needed and can also be very depressing. Having a continued focus on and vision of what our future could be, became exciting and gave me something to look forward to. In what felt like a totally out of control life, I was finally starting to feel in control of our future.
I learned early on that getting in front of one client at a time would not build the business fast enough. It was imperative that I get in front of a lot of people quickly, but had little money to spend on marketing. I needed to "think outside the box" and find low cost ways to get the public to know who I am and what I can do for them. I got very good at marketing and media relations, enabling me to build the business quickly on a very small budget.
Having two daughters I felt it important that they see what a woman can do. Having a great sense of ethics as another driving force gave me the inner peace I needed to feel great about the business and life I was building.
After building the business to approx. $200 million in assets under management, in 2007 I sold my business and now enjoy helping other businesses and individuals find greater success.
