Lakeitha Smith was born May 25,1981 in Wilmington, Delaware. She spent the majority of her young life in the ghetto of Detroit. Growing up in a gang related environment, there was no escaping the violent shootings and drug induced environment. Early affiliation of crime driven friends propelled her into a downward spiral that eventually led to her to skipping school and running away from home. Feeling alone without a father she fell into hands of a neighborhood drug dealer. As a teenager, her boyfriend began to emotionally, mentally, and physically abuse her for 5 years of her teenage life. By the age 18 during 12th grade she was pregnant and scared. She hid her pregnancy until her mom told her to come home and she told her mother about her terrible journey and the abuse she had experienced. Her mom embraced her and made her finish school. She started reading the bible and believed in herself again. On January 14,1999 she gave birth to a baby boy and named him Treveon. That day forward she decided she would no longer be a victim but a victor.

Lakeitha went on to community college catching the bus with her son never missing a day of school. She decided to leave the drug dealer alone and make something of her life. She would have nightmares of the abuse being drag through the house by her hair and guns put to her head on many occasions. That did not stop Lakeitha from going on to a 4 year University called Oakland University where she learned that she could do anything she put her mind to.

One December 12,2009 Lakeitha graduated from Oakland with honors. She did not know what to do from here but she knew she wanted to help woman. She started holding manager jobs while speaking on the side. On April 26, 2013 Lakeitha started a Non-Profit organization called One Touch Transition.

One Touch Transition Center is a non-profit organization that assists those courageous individuals who are closing one chapter and opening the next, women who are ready to leave the challenges and trauma of abusive relationships, divorce or unemployment behind to bravely start a new life. We will provide food, shelter, clothing, as well as, employment guidance. In addition One Touch will also provide a safe place for women in transition as they recover, refocus, and rebuild their lives
