Deborah Delk is a motivational and comedic speaker, veteran and retired certified nurse auditor for the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) Department of health. A graduate of Mundelein College with a BA in Business and graduate of Emory University School of Nursing with a BSN, Delk is the CEO of Right 2 Laugh LLC and founder of the Comedian Humanitarian Awards, which took place in 2016. She also is a National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) 2012 member.

Delk served in the Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA as a clinical manager for Morehouse College and at Emory University hospital clinics also one of the first certified nurse case managers at the hospital. Her mission has been to ensure patients receive adequate health care and that their rights are protected. For over 16 years, she served the State Of Georgia in the Department of Community Health, in which she surveyed and inspected hospitals, clinics and community mental health centers to ensure accredited facilities were meeting federal and state regulatory guidelines. She was the first state auditor of the program, which was initiated in 2015. Before joining the Grady Health System, she served in the Unites States Army and is a Desert Storm veteran.

Over the past 20 years, Delk has advocated for patient rights by collaborating with communities to provide financial support and raise awareness for health-care education. She has been involved in events for organizations such as the Keeping the Dream Alive Foundation Scholarship, the Dooly Chamber of Commerce, the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Chamber of Commerce, Celebration of Nurses sponsored by Baptist Health and the University of Florida Health Jacksonville, the Georgia Juvenile Services Association, Partners in a Racism-Free Community, Illinois Association of Occupational Health Nurses (IAOHN), and the Mississippi chapter of the Association of Hospital Administrative Professionals (MAHAP) to name a few.

The youngest of eight children, Delk moved from a steel mill town in Indiana to Chicago at the age of 12, after her father was imprisoned. She was subjected to sexual abuse and struggled against mental illness. Now she is aiming to make a difference in the lives of others suffering from depression. She has spent three years writing, producing and co-directing the documentary film "Untapped: The Deborah Delk Story,” which she hopes will encourage those with mental illness and their families seek help and educate the community to understand even though not a medical illness, yet still an illness that requires treatment.

Delk is an actress with film movie credits including: "Haters," as Ms. Jones, directed by Carl Stallworth, "Slice 2 and Slice 3," directed by Pierre, "Karnel Knowledge," and the “Lantawood” films. She appeared in the stage plays "Sonny's Place" and "Things We Do For Love." Delk has performed stand-up comedy in many venues around the country to a variety of audiences.

In an article on why and how she became a comedianne and the platform of speaking it provides, the Atlanta Nightlife | wrote that “DD is NO 'Bust!' Ms. Deborah Delk is establishing herself as more than a black female comedian, actor and activist. Her motto is 'Do it right the first time.'"

Mrs. Delk was very enlightening. Through laughter she incorporated issues and addressed everyday stresses that our association's individuals face on a day to day basis. I would definitely recommend her to a colleague or friend.
