Mariachi Veritas De Harvard Mariachi Band from Cambridge, MA

Mariachi Veritas de Harvard was started in 2001 by Claudia Garcia '05. We are comprised entirely of Harvard students and are the first and only 100% student mariachi on the East Coast. Many of us had not heard mariachi before joining the group. We are all essentially self-taught, receive no faculty oversight, and are responsible for the musical and organizational development of the group. We have played numerous shows over the past several years, including for celebrities and notable figures such as President of Mexico Felipe Calderon, former President of Mexico Vicente Fox, George Lopez, Salma Hayek, among others. In December 2007, Mariachi Veritas de Harvard won third place in the University Group Competition level at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio, Texas.
