Awarded Gigmasters' Rising Star Award 2 years running (2008 and 2009), The Blue Potatoes is a unique and innovative group in the world of children's music, playing folk, rock and world music for kids and their families. Everyone can enjoy our original music and traditional favorites - babies to teens, parents, teachers, caregivers, grandparents, the whole family!
Of our five regular members, three are classroom music teachers, three are parents (some of us are both!), and all are working musicians, so we bring a special combination of educational knowledge, parental nurturing, and rock-and-roll star quality to every performance, no matter how big or small. We're more than just another kids' band - we include interactive, hands-on experience with real musical instruments, and participatory songs and games that get everyone on their feet and having fun. With our broad, multi-cultural experience, we are able to bring musical styles from around the world -- country, Irish, ska, reggae, klezmer, sals, folk, rock and much, much more to children's events. Let your child experience the rich and varied cultures of the world through music!
The Blue Potatoes is dedicated to exposing children to live music and real musical instruments at every opportunity, regardless of circumstances. We find creative ways of making our performances affordable to organizations that need our help by partnering with supportive institutions and sponsors.

I hosted a Mardi Gras themed celebration for my son's baptism/ 1st birthday and asked the Blue Potatoes to lead a short processional parade from the chapel to our home. It was awesome! People stopped in their tracks to watch them perform and when they reached our home they even performed a short set of Cajun style music. Even though we only booked them for an hour I never felt as though they were watching the clock and with their reasonable pricing we definitely received our money's worth. I would highly recommend the Blue Potatoes. Their performance was the highlight of the day!

I was not impressed with their talent or their professionalism.
The Blue Potatoes:
I believe this client was frustrated as a result of her own poor planning and inexperience and is taking it out on us. She had never before hired live music, only djs, and the realities are very different. She had requested a children's band for a 3-hour holiday party, and in our bid, I specified that we would do it with 2 10-minute breaks; vocalists need a break. The children at the party were mostly toddlers, so after 2 hours some of their parents began to take them home (2 hours is quite enough for children that age--then they begin to melt down). The client became very upset because she thought this was because we were taking a break, and wanted us to play conAwards & Badges
